Description

Now supports Apple Silicon Macs!

Daily Jotter is a simple notepad that automatically provides a new page every day. It is ideal for storing notes and snippets of information that you want to return to later - just like a paper note book.

NOTE that minimum version of macOS is El Capitan (version 10.11)

* A new page every day
* Template text for each new page
* Save as you type
* Print any entry
* Entries list window
* Find text across all entries using the Entries list window
* Print multiple entries
* Export any entry
* Fast start up

As it creates a new page every day, you can be sure that when you open it on a new day, a blank sheet is waiting for you.

Daily Jotter will automatically save your notes as you type, so you never need to worry about losing your work. It has also been designed to be fast, so don't worry about exiting the application; it will start up again quickly when you need it!

You can navigate between days by selecting the "Previous" or "Next" buttons on the toolbar or using the menu items on the Page menu. The "Today" button will return you to the page for today.

===== USER REVIEWS =====

"I used to keep TextEdit open all the time and have a million little text documents always floating around on my desktop unsaved. I wanted an app I could leave open on my desktop as a "scratch pad" to jot down notes, snippets, addresses, phone numbers or anything else I wanted to capture. I wanted a new page daily with the old pages to be kept and searchable. Daily Jotter is very clean and simple. It does no more or less than I needed. You get a page for every day. Edits are auto-saved as you make them. You can search through your history of pages and see which days you actually wrote something. It's simple and it saves me from my own disordered mind." - John Arnold

"I'm really enjoying this app since it's just really simple and quick! You jot down things you want to remember and you can return to it exactly the way it was without having to save anything." - Hanseul Choi

"Turns out the simplest app that I downloaded is the one I use the most." - atldkw5

okay for one-time notes

This app has two major flaws. First, it does not allow you to search previous pages, searches are limited to the page you are working on. That’s pretty useless because I definitely remember what I am writing on a certain day, but I may not remember on which day I visited aunt Sue. To find aunt Sue, you have to manually click your way back until you see her name. Second, the spell checker is rather annoying. You can turn it off only for the page you are working on. The next day, it’s automatically back on. This makes it useless when you enter non-dictionary words or when you use two languages simultaneously, e.g. you write in English but talk about a German event. The spell checker will replace the German word with whatever it thinks fit, and does not necessarily do so immediately. Sometimes it leaves the word as is but corrects it a few seconds later when you have already typed three more sentences and don’t notice the change.
The app is useful only if you jot things down daily and never look back again.

Thanks for the review. To search all your notes, you can use the Entries window (Window -> Entries, or cmd+L) where you can filter by keyword, month and year

Can't Reach Developers

I loved this app when it was accessible, I used it over the years and relied on it. Throughout those uears switching to a new computer etc. the app will no longer allow me to use it becaiuse it says I'm using it on my crashed/trashed computer. I still wanted to use it (out of habit), but know support from developer as my e-mail was returned undelivered.

Hi,

Please try deleting the file _LOCK_FILE from Daily Jotter's data directory (Look in preferences to find it). If you need further help, please email me at support@19ft.com.

Performs as advertised but...

Love the product but have a couple of questions.

1) Can you make it "find" and entry no matter when it was entered? Starting on the 7th of this month, I made several entries concerning water softeners. I tried to find them by clicking Edit > Find > Find... and entering the word softener. It didn't find it on the current page because it wasn't there. It said "Not found". I expected it to scan previous dates but apparently it doesn't do this. For me, this should be a required feature of the software.

2) Can you make this work with MobileMe synchronization? I have two Macs and it would be great to be able to enter and/or view data no matter which Mac it was entered on.
