The DCPL app is the portal to enjoying Washington DC Public Library services using your iPhone or iPod Touch. With it, you can very quickly search DCPL resources and find information and materials wherever you are. Notice a new book by a favorite author? Check the library for a copy. Need information for that research project due tomorrow? You can find it easily.
With the DCPL app, you can:
● Search for books, music, and more in the online catalog!
● Read brief reviews or summaries for items in the catalog (when available)
● Get hours, locations, and maps for all DC Public Library locations
● Place holds on items to pick up later

first of its kind ~
There aren't many interesting ways to search libraries' collections but this is one of them. Placing holds on the go is very convenient. I can't wait to see what the next version does too.

I go to a DC library like every day
Great app for D.C. Public Library users
This is a very nice application for D.C. Public Library users. You can search, store your account information to put items on hold, select the pickup library. Some nice improvements would be to use the advanced/power search features available on the main library site, view account information, and renew materials using the app. I applaud DCPL for being the first library to create an iPhone/iPod app.
I've seen some bad reviews from people outside the District of Columbia. Please respect the review and rating requirements from Apple and don't rate this application on it's inability to search a library in Iowa or California. Library systems are local and it's not feasible at this time to have a nationwide integrated library system. That would be cool, but to the best of my knowledge it's not here yet. Maybe Google can help with that...
