Description
★ Apple New and Noteworthy and What's Hot ★ Editor's Choice Children's Technology Review ★ KAPi Award-winner. Doodlecast is a unique drawing app that records your voice as you draw. Play back your drawing and export it to share with friends and family. Visit the Doodlecast for Kids support page to see the app in action.
The Doodlecast For Kids App comes with more than 20 drawing prompts – simple questions designed to give kids a starting point. Kids can choose from one of the prompts or start a drawing from scratch. The app records the entire drawing process along with audio from the microphone to create videos up to three minutes long. The videos are as fun to watch as they are to create and Doodlecast makes it easy to share them with friends and families.
The Doodlecast For Kids App is a fun creative activity, but it is also a valuable teaching aid. Families can use the app for everything from practicing counting and letters to talking about feelings.

“My boys love it: both the 3 year old and the 7 year old. I think the frames and the pre-suggested drawing suggestions are genius. This is one of your best... and that's saying a lot!” – Barbara Chamberlin, Mom and Associate Professor, Learning Games Lab, New Mexico State University.
"This app is brilliant, really useful in schools to get the children to talk about their emotions and different situations. Colourful and bright, simple to use but very effective." - Jas2060 (iTunes review)
"For young children, this app turns the iPad screen into a creativity space where sounds and drawing can be mashed into the same project seamlessly." Children's Technology Review

another fantastic app from zinc Roe
My 4-year-old twin daughters are still playing the previous Tickle Tap Apps, like Sound Shaker and Boogie Bopper. But Doodlecast is a home run. I wish I could give it more than five stars.
I'll admit that the first time "we" played it, I was doing some work on my computer and one of my daughters was nearby with the iPad. She loved the question prompts, such as "What makes you feel happy" and "What tastes yucky." She went through them one by one, considering the questions and then drawing a response. Later we did a show & tell with her mother, and Mom got to see and hear the entire process, from our daughter thinking out loud about the questions to seeing the drawings magically appear on the screen.
Since then we've used the app in different ways, usually talking a little about the questions and then drawing the pictures, either collaboratively or in turns. My daughters love seeing their drawings come to life in video form, and my wife and I love having the videos in our Photos folder to look at whenever we want (and share with relatives).
Amazing app
My wife and I just got this app for our daughter and we have not let her play yet cause we are having to much fun. Amazing and fun can't wait for more options. Hours of fun well worth more than 1.99
Brilliant app and a wish for a couple improvements
My two girls are having lots of fun seeing themselves draw and talk at the same time. I love the idea that it is recorded and we can keep it as a small movie.
Just 2 wishes for improvement:
1. the time frame for making a drawing and discussing it is too short. With almost every drawing the girls wanted to ad some more details or to color in certain parts, but then the time was up. It would be nice, if the time frame could be determined based on the drawing.
2. It would also be a nice to have the option of two different types of strokes. Using the fingertip could create a finer line, while using the finger bottom would create a thicker line.
