Description
Echofon (formerly ‘Twitterfon’) is an easy to use, super-fast Twitter app for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
It’s easy to do common Twitter tasks such as viewing your timeline, messages, replies, lists and favorites. Echofon has a powerful tweet-authoring where you can write tweets, take photos, record video (3GS only) and update your current location.
When another Echofon user (iPhone or desktop) sends you a Direct Message or @reply, you can be notified instantly via push notification. Get your friends to use Echofon and you can send Twitter messages instead of SMS!
Keep up with what’s happening on Twitter with Echofon’s search tools. You can search Twitter, view trending topics (with explanations), nearby tweets and find users easily from the search tab.

Ad "Support"??
If I had written this review one day ago, it would have been 4 or 5 stars. But instead, I'm forced to give it a statement-making 1 star in the hopes that Kazuho will take notice.
Twitterfon is the only Twitter app I've ever used. It's clean, well-designed, and fast. But now it also has an unsightly rotating ad banner at the top of the Twitter timeline that is simply intolerable. The latest update apparently contained some new UI upgrades, too, but I'll never know how well they work, because I'm replacing Twitterfon immediately.
I feel surprisingly insulted by the decision to include ads in this app - and apparently I'm not alone. The reviews from the last version to this version have a MUCH higher percentage of 1-star reviews, and I can only imagine the ads are to blame.
Kazuho, I hope you take note. Your users would likely rather pay .99 for this otherwise great app than be forced to look at ads. As for me, my $2.99 will be going to Tweetie now.
Don't update---keep 1.4.6
Not happy about the ads, especially since I'm not seeing any advantage to this update (ie, the “new functionality” has been here for some time anyway). I downgraded to 1.4.6. It's faster without the ads.
The basics done right
Finally a Twitter application that just lets you easily see your friend's tweets, your @ replies and your direct messages, nothing fancy like the other iPhone clients but hey that's all I need!
