EYETV NETSTREAM SUPPORT
Connect EyeTV for iPhone directly to an EyeTV Netstream tuner to watch live TV on your iPad! Enjoy superfast channel surfing. This feature requires an iPad, iPhone 4, or iPod touch 4th generation running iOS4, and a local 802.11n Wi-Fi network. You need a Mac or PC to install EyeTV Netstream, but you don’t need to keep your computer turned on to watch live TV.
Note: Direct connection to EyeTV Netstream is available only for MPEG-2 standard definition television signals, and is not supported outside the local Wi-Fi network.

TRY BEFORE YOU BUY
The Live3G web app is a free, stripped-down version of the EyeTV app. It enables you to stream live television over a 3G connection in the Safari browser of your iPhone or iPad. It’s a good way to test your network’s compatibility before buying the EyeTV app. Make sure you turn on iPhone/iPad Sharing in EyeTV’s Preferences window first.
The free Live3G web app is available at live3g.eyetv.com.

NETWORK INFO:
On your local Wi-Fi network no configuration is needed, just turn on iPhone/iPad Sharing in EyeTV’s Preferences window. Fully automatic configuration isn’t always possible outside of your local network, please see www.elgato.com/iphonehelp for details.
If you are using the Mac OS X firewall, be sure to allow connections from both EyeTV and EyeConnect. EyeTV uses port 2170. If that doesn’t allow you to connect, try disabling the firewall temporarily.

A must for any EyeTV owner
I own several EyeTV products and this app makes the investments worth the money. A must have if you own EyeTV. Running the eyeTV hybrid using an air antenna and the Elgato hooked up to a DirectTV HD receiver. The app sees both and streaming over WiFi is awesome. Using both iPad and iPhone 4, no problems.
Eye TV and Airplay = Great Program
I've had the Eye TV app for a while and it did a decent job of steaming recorded programs from my mac mini with the Eye TV program on it. Now that airplay is enabled on iOS 4.3, this app is awesome ! Last night, I was able to watch recorded programs that were located on my Mac Mini and stream them to my Apple TV in my bedroom. The quality was actually very nice. I also love the fact that I can put my iPad to sleep and still stream to Apple TV. Another nice feature is that I can use my Apple TV remote to control the play, FF, REW functions when playing recorded shows. It's really very nice and flexible. I'll be recording more shows now, so I can time-juggle my favorite shows.
Great app!, especially if you have and Apple TV.
Disappointing
This app has been a huge disappointment.
At first, it did what it said it would, stream live TV to my iPad, although I expected it to do a little more. After the latest update, it doesn't even do that anymore. The picture jerks, stutters, and freezes, which did not happen with the previous version. Hence, one star now.
As for my expectations, I just "assumed" the app would include remote control functions, which seems basic. My error. It doesn't even provide for turning EyeTV off on the computer, although it will launch it. Thus, it is all too easy to leave it running on the computer for hours if you launched it remotely on your iPad.
I have other apps which offer some degree of remote control of EyeTV on my iPad (a must if your computer is part of your home theater), but none is especially well implemented. My primary motivation for buying this was to have a better remote, so for me it's $5 wasted, although I'm at fault for being more careful when reading the description.
If all you want is to watch TV on your iPad, this may be useful (at least it was when it worked), but as part of a home theater set up, it is useless.
