Killer app! D&D geeks rejoice!
Almost didn't buy because of "crashes" in other reviews. SO GLAD I DID! Perfect blend of old school D&D & Choose Your Own Adventure. Highly recommended! (no crashes for me - iPod 4g + iOs 4.3.1)
Faithful to the original
If you're looking for a way to guaruntee yourself you won't cheat in a choose your own adventure, this is it. This biggest problem with this is that it make the book INCREDIBLY difficult. You often have to start over if you even tap one incorrect choice, since it will lead to a dead end or unwinnable path. I wish there was a way to save state, since when I play a book like this I would often think "Ok I'm dead, If I start over, I'll just jump to page 154 since I already know what I'm going to do to start out"
The beginning is a consistently boring 15 minutes of memorized paths and easy fights you'll have to play over and over again. The game also tells you it was designed to be beatable with even crappy die rolls. This is lunacy! Without 11-12 in str and a decent amount of luck, I can't see how it's even possible, let alone winnable.
I'm happy I finally beat it, but I'm unsure if it's worth the tedium to try another one.
80s D&D!!!!!
Epic!! I love it!! A virtual nerd utopia!!
I have been playing the GA series and they are ok but FF blows them away! Not to mention these are the original books from the FF series. Please keep them coming!! Would love to see the whole 10 book box set ;) If you love 80s pin and paper DUNGEONS & DRAGONS then here it is! No crashes on iOS4 iPhone 4!!!
