Coming out swinging

To have this game available to me as an independent app, and as an adult means a lot. I played this when it was an arcade at a Liquor Store in So Cal when I was 7 years old (1992)

I had lots of fun with it, one day i found it in the app store but it was jumbled up with about 10 other games in the capcom arcade app. It was free so I tried it out, I found the game unacceptably adapted for the iPhone as an in app purchase in a poorly designed app, the User Interface (ui) for the actual game was terrible (ugly menu's, buttons and badly placed controls) I was unpleased with their asking price of $3 and the terrible quality of the app so I removed the app(it stopped giving me free tokens every day to play anyway)

The game got an independent release as I found out yesterday 9-15-11 ! What I can say is my frustrations go out to the people who bought the game in the capcom arcade app because they will probably double dip, and worse where probably the ones urging the developer to make it an independent app as I believe this is a very beloved game by people like myself. I was very happy to see when i was scrolling past the top 50 and immediately bought it after reading the description and seeing it priced at 99c

I really enjoy the game, and I know it's partially due to CND (child nostalgia disorder) because this is not the best game out their. That said, this is my issue with the app, I don't expect it to have been re-vamped (that would have been exceptional and I would have paid $5.00 or more) but I did expect better UI for an app that will sell for 2.99 (check: Angry Birds, Plants vs Zombies and Jet Pack Joyride for beautiful and simple UI) the publishers/dev where simply lazy. The controls are unacceptable (thumbs cover the joy stick area where gameplay takes place, modes can be changed to have smaller screen, but should have been something like Pizza Boy) where screen size and controls make a compromise for functionality, the buttons are ugly, and I played for an hour last night, when I opened the app again, it didn't save (inexcusable, my streets of rage game leaves off pin point location after turning off, re syncing iPhone, and re opening the app. This must happen under certain condition because it saves my current position now but what about later?? This shouldn't happen for a $3 app) in short, this effort seems to fall short to Many times.

It gets 3 stars for being available at a steal, and for having the OG arcade game I loved to play as a kid on my iPhone . It doesn't deserve 5 stars because people will pay $3 for it one day, and considering the quality apps their is out there for that price, this asking price is inflated with hot air .( 3 dollars is not a lot in the outside world, but in the app store ecosystem, you give quality for that price because less expensive apps already do!)

If you love this game, these concerns won't bother you, and I do urge you to buy this game while Its on sale, and if you like games like Streets of Rage arcade style!

Yes, I want a solo game

Capcom arcade? No, that is too large and many games in a app.

Best four quarters I've ever spent.

Brings back so many great memories from my youth. I don't even want to know how many quarters I dropped into this machine over the years, but the four I just spent were totally worth it.

Co-op mode with my son's iPod Touch is such a fantastic experience! A must have for all you arcade fans out there.
