Description

Glyph is a beautiful, immersive puzzle game based on the highly acclaimed PC title by Sandlot Games and includes vibrant graphics, and atmospheric music and sound effects. With more than 200 levels across 2 play modes, Quest and Action, Glyph promises many hours of fun.

In Quest Mode you work to save the dying world of Kuros by recreating ancient glyphs hidden beneath layers of rock and glistening stones. Touching groups of like-colored stones helps break through the rock and reveal the glyphs. Special power-ups also help to aid your quest.

Action Mode sets a more frantic challenge where you touch groups of stones to clear them as they appear from the bottom of the screen. The goal is to keep them from reaching the top.

Glyph includes an automatic save function, and allows you to play your own music in the background with the game sound effects on or off.

I forgot how great this was!

I had this a few years ago on either the Treo or WM and I played it for months (so it's definitely got value in terms of play time). There was, as I recall, some weird glitch that only affected whatever platform I was playing on...like maybe after a million points the score started going backwards, but it didn't happen for the other platforms and it didn't stop me from loving this game. And it's a natural for the iphone. It's like a cross between Bejeweled, Gaia and Jewel Quest. Like all three, you make matches of colored stones to clear them. Unlike Bejeweled and Jewel Quest, you don't move the rows, but click on the groups as they fall and form. As you remove the stones, a glyph (hence the name) appears below. When you've uncovered the whole glyph, the level is complete. Like Bejeweled, there are power ups, which are nicely varied - some eliminate all of a color, others rearrange the colors in layers so you can wipe a bunch out at once, and others eliminate otherwise immovable obsidian stones (so, like Jewel Quest there). And there are others, besides, that I can't remember. I've been playing for an hour and remembered where the challenge came in, for real. After a while, the levels are timed, and you gain more time with the more matches you make. However, unlike any of the other games, some colors (look to the left of the screen) when removed reveal nothing beneath them. So, you need to try and focus on clearing groups of the colored stones that count. As you go up in the levels, and time is shorter and the board is more complex with little corners and such, that becomes a real task. Finally, between every five levels (I can't remember exactly) you have a little mini game where the glyphs flash in a sequence and you have to repeat it. I always had problems with that because I can only retain things for so long :o) It responds wonderfully to whichever way you tilt the phone (but landscape only - meaning one side or the other). I've found the response of other games to be a little slow or mostly unresponsive. The wonderful thing is being able to use your fingers instead of a little stylus to make the matches (though with big fingers it might be an issue). The graphics are fantastic as ever, as is the music and the wonderful British narrator, and game play has been without a hitch (and I didn't even reboot after installing it and a bunch of other updates). This is an absolutely polished, professional port that's just a natural for the iphone. And I almost forgot - the price is perfect, too! Here's hoping that Handmark/Astraware bring some of the other great games to the iphone as well!

BUY IT FAST!!!

THIS is what an ipod touch game is all about - This is VERY polished and packed with GORGEOUS content!!! If you love puzzle games (as the description says it best - like Collapse or Jewel Quest, BUT This game has much more depth though), this is the game to get. I bought it for $1.99 (release sale), but I would have paid more for it, no doubt about it. The itunes app store has really stunk lately, we REALLY NEEDED this game!!!

Awesome

Fun game with lovely graphics. The rocks make a very satisfying "crunch" sound when you break through them!
