Description

You asked for more airports!

Airport Madness 3D: Volume 2 offers eight complex new airports, more aircraft, additional gates, and sharper detail. Like the first volume, Airport Madness 3D gives players a 3-dimensional air traffic control experience, from a control tower perspective. Airports are more complex in Volume 2. Push traffic as quickly as you can, while avoiding midair collisions. Choose good weather or bad, adjust the tower height to your preference, then do your best to manage jet traffic into and out of eight different real-world airports. Listen to human pilot voices as the aircraft obey your every command. Scan your radar screens for potential conflicts between aircraft. View the action from the Pilot Cams, the Sky Cam, Tower Cam or Runway Cam.

In addition to a UI refresh, the big change since Volume 1 is the all-new Career Stats page, which lets you track your ongoing performance history across all eight airports.

It feels real!

Our terrain is built from real-world earth data. Airport designs are based on real-world layouts. Game play has been designed by real-world air traffic controllers and commercial pilots. Even the aircraft flight characteristics are highly realistic.

Fun and Stress

Have had this for approximately three weeks. It was updated a short time after purchase but that caused a problem that prevented opening. It was fixed two days later.

Update said stuck aircraft problem was fixed as were excessive tags on planes but I still have some minor problems with those aspects. The runway cam seems to avoid the runway I am interested in, in favor of the other since the update.

I am not a gamer but am interested in aviation and that was what caused me to investigate the game to see if it would be of interest.

I enjoy it and am still learning the idiosynchrises to avoid crashes. One of them is a backup of landing planes at the end of the runway which has resulted in some “unfortunate” loss of life.

Like anything else over time one might become bored. Since I am using a low level of traffic right now that may take a while but I would hope the developers have other tweaks in mind for the future to sustain interest. I like it and would suggest anyone with an interest in a game with realistic real-life challenges take a look at it.

P.S. The use of certain aircraft company names is a sly way of self-promotion. Not that there is anything wrong with it.

Original And Different

Being a long time gamer, we are talking Pong generation, I rated this game highly due to its uniqueness and execution. One of the nice features is you can change the POV to cockpit, runway or tower view. This adds a simulator type aspect to the game when you climb in the pilots seat during take off, taxing or landing. You do not have vehicle control but the game view is not restricted just from the tower. The game can be tailored to whatever diffculty you choose. And it can be very challenging keeping the planes from stacking up and crashing on the tarmac. One nice feature is you can abort the landing and do a fly around or slow the arriving planes descent. Learning curve is fairly straightforward.

The planes are much more realistic in design than I expected. The environment graphics are not detailed but that does not take away from the gameplay. Voice track adds a realistic dimension to the game. As well there are social banners which display during gameplay (can be turned off) which either criticize or compliment your ability to control the airport arrivals and depatures. This adds some needed interactive feedback which you will find amusing.

I am running the game at 1920x1080 on a 65” OLED and it looks quite nice. This is a refreshing simulator in a rinse and repeat game market that is over saturated with shoot em ups, and fighting games. It’s also good to be playing a game on my Mac again. It’s been long overdo.

Very addictive; small frustrations

I love this game, and have spent hours playing it! My only frustration is how aircraft will occasionally stop on taxiways and ramps (and turn orange on the control screen) with no explanation provided for why or recourse. I've had crashes end my bid at a firehose because one of these backed up the queue onto the runway and I could not have done anything about it.

Either fix this, provide an explanation as to why they've stopped, or give us an explanation as to what we need to do to fix, and you absolutely have 5 stars from me!
