Best iPhone sudoku app, and at a great price
ACTSudoku 1.1 is the only app that meets all my requirements for an iPhone sudoku app. It gives you real sudoku with rotational symmetry—and it *generates* them, rather than limiting you to a pack of pre-made puzzles.
It has a good interface: Its input method is obviously postfix (you won't need to guess whether you need to hit a number or a cell first), and its color scheme is sensible. It even has the option to automatically fill in pencil-marks according to which numbers are possible in each cell, but you can turn that off in the Settings app.
It's not perfect, or I'd have given it five stars. The only real problem is that need to hold down on a number to enter it; tapping enters a manual pencil-mark (if you turned off automatic marks). I think that the author should reverse these, so that tapping enters a number and holding down enters a mark.
But that's not major—the app is still usable. It does work, and it works well, and it contains no major fail. I recommend it.
Everything you want from a Sudoku app
This is a very nice sudoku game for the iPhone. It provides anything you'd ever want: a nice interface, unlimited puzzles, the ability to listen to your own music while playing, difficulty levels, and an option to suspend your game and pick it up later. My only complaint would be that the interface for entering a number is a little small and I can't really see the number I'm tapping. Maybe clicking on a square should line the numbers up at the bottom or something for easy viewing and selection. This isn't a major problem though. I would also like to see some more customization options but that would just make it better.
Best version of Sudoku for iPhone yet!
This Sudoku game is the best version I've tried yet on the iPhone! Once you read the instructions and spend a few minutes with ACTSudoku you can see how easy it is to play. The people who are frustrated at this game obviously haven't read the instructions or they'd see it's a long push to set the number & a quick tap to mark that spot. I think this version of Sudoku is the (thus far) perfect blend of appearance and functionality in a Sudoku game for the iPhone.
