Description

Be a part of NASA meteor research with Meteor Counter!

When you go out to watch a meteor shower, bring your iPhone with you. With Meteor Counter, you can easily capture meteor observations with an innovative "piano key" interface. As you tap the keys, Meteor Counter records critical data for each meteor: time, magnitude, latitude, and longitude, along with optional verbal annotations.

Afterward, these data are automatically uploaded to NASA researchers for analysis.

Meteor Counter also provides a news feed and event calendar, which are updated by professional scientists to keep you informed of the latest meteor happenings and upcoming showers.

It's everything a meteor hound needs to get informed and get involved!

Good start, needs some work

I used the app this morning during the Quadrantids and found the apps lacking in a couple areas.

First, there needs to be a way to review and edit the data entered before sending.

Second, the user should be given the opportunity to NOT send the data. When I was initially checking out the app, as soon as I "finished" it the data (all bogus) is sent. I suspect this happens quite a bit because of user testing.

Third, the magnitude bars a too small to accurately strike when using gloves. Maybe a screen scroll between 2-3 screens to allow for bigger magnitude bars.

Good app needs bit more

I agree, we need an option to practice. Also, a link to a website where we can
learn how to judge star and meteor magnitudes and sky cloudiness and brightness conditions would be good. Perhaps the site could give suggestions on using an astronomy app like Stellarium or Starwalk to learn to judge the above.

Looks good so far

The app looks good on my iPhone, however is very small for my iPad. Is there going to be a patch so it looks good for both?
