LIMITATIONS OF THE LITE VERSION
There is a free version of PocketCAS (called PocketCAS lite) that will allow you to try out the interface and many features before buying PocketCAS pro.
It has the following limitations:
- Many advanced mathematical functions (e.g. integration, taylor expansion, eigenvalues, etc.) are unavailable.
- It will plot only one function at a time.
- Exported graphics will be watermarked.

The best just got better
The addition of 3D graphing makes this program even more useful. Having used the earlier version of PocketCas, I can write that the new version with its new interface is even better. To those who complain that the upgrade to version 3 should be free, I ask: What software company gives free upgrades to completely new and rewritten software? The answer is none. Besides, the program is selling at a discount so previous users can upgrade at a reduced price, which I feel is very fair.
Good
I wish it were a free update. But it is the pro version, not the lite version rest assured. Interface is still good. Biggest issue is paying for it.
The most important thing
In my opinion, the most important thing in a CAS on the iPhone is the interface. I will go ahead and bring and use my TI89 or ClassPad if it is 3x slower to enter things on my phone.
The old version was my favorite iPhone CAS (SpaceTime has a horrible interface IMO, and was not designed for iPhone), but still was a bit worse than a calculator. This update brought all the good parts over, but really made it seemless with the rest of iPhone. The long-hold buttons are way better than arcane shift keys. It's now easy to move and delete cells. Units have a keyboard. This is easily the new king of iPhone CAS's for me!
There are minor things that could be improved. I'd like to see more color options on graphs (3D looks good, though, and scales with pinch), and a way to turn off the maxima/minima dots on 2D (handy, but might like to have a clean graph).
Yes, if you bought the old one, it's a paid update, but a good one. The developers have to have a reason to update! A discount for previous purchasers would be nice, but Apple doesn't have an option for that yet.
In short, very happy! Hope development continues!
