Description
"It's a pretty good zoo," said young Gerald McGrew," and the fellow who runs it seems proud of it, too." But if I ran the zoo, said young Gerald McGrew, "I'd make a few changes. That's just what I'd do . . . "

Young Gerald, not impressed by the animals at the zoo, conjures up plans for "New Zoo, McGrew Zoo." Join him on a globe-trotting safari in search of the world's most unusual creatures (with equally unusual habits). A wonderful tribute to a child's imagination, this parade of creatures begins with a ten-footed lion and escalates to more and more imaginative (and bizarre) creatures, such as the Fizza-ma-Wizza-ma-Dill, "the world's biggest bird from the island of Gwark, who eats only pine trees, and spits out the bark." Come along and discover a zoo like you've never imagined, through the eyes of Gerald McGrew and the great Dr. Seuss!
New features only available in this omBook include professional narration, background audio and enlarged artwork for each scene. Customer Reviews
Not enough appeal
Can't see how this app enriches the reader experience though love the series
This one was average
We have most of the Dr. Seuss series and we loved them. This one was average and not very entertaining. As another reader stated, there are so many other great Dr. Seuss books that would be better. Love the series!
Good Book, but the Narration is Really Bad
If you're looking for a great Dr. Seuss iPad book...by all means, don't get this one!
Okay, I love Dr. Seuss books. This one included. Not only did I grow up with them, but now I share them with my kids. And they love them. I've bought every book that Ocean House media has done in the Dr. Seuss series. Most of them are wonderfully done. But in this one the narration is awful.
Whoever the voice actor is that is performing this book is really annoying to listen to. Especially after multiple listens! My kids like to "read" (i.e. listen) to books on the iPad over, and over, and over, again. Which is ok, I usually don't mind because I enjoy them too. But with this book I almost can't take it anymore. This voice actor is just annoying.
The sad thing is, it looks like Ocean House media is using this actor more. I recently bought the Dr. Seuss book "And to Think I Saw it on Mulberry Street." Again, a wonderful Dr. Seuss book. But the narration totally ruins it. Now, whenever my kids want to listen to that book (or this one), I tell them to pick a different book. Or, I just read it to them myself. Which is nice because I enjoy doing that. But it's just sad that Oceanhouse Media totally ruined not one, but TWO classic Dr. Seuss books with terrible, annoying voice narration.
But, if anyone from Ocean House media or Dr. Seuss Enterprises reads these reviews can I put in a request? Please, please, please don't use this voice narrator for any more Dr. Seuss books. It's just too painful to listen to.
I don't mean to hurt the narrators feelings. I'm sure they were just trying to do the best they could. But the narrator is just not right for these classic Dr. Seuss books.
