Impact by Focusrite 4+

The reason I gave it three stars is because there’s two issues that make it difficult for me to work. Number one, the orientation lock makes it so that you can only record horizontally. I found a workaround this issue by starting recording horizontally and then manually making the phone vertical after I start recording.

The second issue, after the song gets to about a minute to two minutes into it there is a very apparent lag from the video to the audio. Haven’t found a workaround other than upload it to iMovie and drag it where it supposed to be.

I tried this app to record myself playing acoustic guitar and the audio came out great. I do have a few gripes mainly around the UI. It can be so much more intuitive. Also wish they’d add a apple watch app so a user can use the rear facing camera with the watch as a viewfinder.

Impact does everything you might expect it to do. Good recordings. Solid interface support. Best audio fx for a video app. I wish the videos were stored locally instead of inside the app.

I would currently gladly pay a $20 iap for the ability to apply AU effects to the audio of a captured video. The built in effects you can add are probably still the best out there but the ability to choose your own AU effects would slay every video capture app on the market.
