The iReadSMIME v1.0 application provides the user with read-only capabilities for SMIME encrypted emails and provides the following functionalities:
Supports Post Office Protocol v3 (POP3)
Supports Internet Mail Access Protocol v4 (IMAP4)
Decrypts SMIME
192-bit 3DES
128-, 192-, 256-bit AES
SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512
Supports the use of native viewers for attachments. These viewers include and are not limited to:
Graphics (JPEG, GIF, BMP, PNG, TIFF, etc.)
Audio attachments (MP3, AAC, WAV, AIFF, etc.)
Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Additional support (MOV, PDF, RTF, HTML, and Apple iWork Pages, Keynote, and Numbers and others)
Data at rest is left encrypted.
Unencrypted data is securely removed after use.
Compatible with Apple iPhone 3G and 3GS, iPod touch and iPad.
Securely stores passwords and private key.
All major email providers supported.
HTML, Rich and Plain text Email formats supported

Solves encryption problem
No, it doesn't support exchange (though it never said it would), but its still great for POP3 and IMAP4. Bought this right away when I saw it- I'm pretty sure there's nothing else out there

This app would be killer if it supported exchange! Till then two stars
Currently necessary evil
If iOS had support for s/mime certificates in the native Mail app, this app would get 1 star. However, that's not the case at the time of this review, so iReadSMIME gets 3 stars. I'd give it 5 considering the circumstances, but two major details get a knock down:
1) Horribly rushed UI. Not talking about glitz and finesse, I mean that text labels on page titles overlap each other and are unreadable. Sometimes you can get a modal dialog box with NO text at all, just an "OK" button.
2) It's not a universal app, so to use it on an iPad, you're forced to pixel double, which is awful for text.
I implore the developer to please fix these two issues, which would make it a 5 star app. You've filled a need, and deserve the $5 per download, but there's no excuse to be sloppy about it.
