Unbelievable value for a strobe tuner
I own two other Peterson strobe tuners, a StroboStomp2 and a StroboFlip. Those retail for US$200. This app is a great value for a strobe tuner. You probably don't realize how much better your guitar will sound when accurately tuned. The display is actually steadier and easier to read than the others I own, and in addition to the strobe display, it actually displays the deviation from the tuned note numerically to a precision of 0.1 cent i.e. 1/1000 of a semitone. However, you should be aware of the differences between this and the Peterson hardware tuners.
1. The description claims that this app has an accuracy of 1/10th of a cent accuracy, that is not true unless you calibrate it. They should say it has 1/10th of a cent PRECISION and a default accuracy of no worse than +/-2 cents (and probably much better than that). The timebase of the iphone is intrinsically not accurate to 0.1 cent. Really the default is not bad -- and better than most other tuners. If you really care to achieve 0.1 cent ACCURACY, you must calibrate the app. Its very easy to do. Connect a reference signal, press calibrate, and you're done. And, the app holds that calibration when you exit the app or restart the iphone. Don't bother using a cheap tuning fork for the reference signal -- its default is better than that. I used the signal from my StroboFlip. The calibration factor was 99.960%. Due to small hardware differences, your correction factor will be different. Incidentlly, when I plug the same reference signal into my Strobostomp, it shows perfect calibration.
2. As the description states you also have the ability to adjust the frequency of the Concert A. And, you can adjust for a capo or drop tuning. However, unlike the Peterson hardware tuners or the StroboSoft application for computers, this tuner app does not provide for different temperaments or 'Sweeteners.' (See the Peterson website if you are interested) We can hope for a future upgrade, but don't hold your breath, as doing so might cannibalize sales of their other products. (In case anyone from Peterson reads this: Just GTR and ACO please!).
This tuner is always at the ready. You don't need to carry another tuner. I love it while cruising guitar shops. You really can't evaluate a guitar if it is out of tune. You won't get a correct feel for the action, intonation, or sweetness of the tone unless the guitar is properly tuned. Best case, you find the guitar at some random drop tuning, tuned by some guy who thinks that tuning with harmonics is accurate. If you are still tuning with harmonics, then you are in for a treat after tuning with an accurate tuner. Tuner accuracy at this level has never been available at this price. It's incredible.
As good as the autostrobe
I have the Peterson autostrobe and istrobosoft. The istrobosoft is just as good as the $800+ machine (perhaps better). Love it. I have tested it against tone generators and it is spot on, following the most minute changes. I am a band director, and this makes tuning up the band a joy rather than a chore.
Problems are resolved quickly
an update with support for 3.1 and calibration issues fixed.

iStrobosoft was the only reason why I kept my iphone!!
