UPGRADE NOW! ALL BUGS HAVE BEEN FIXED

2ND UPDATE:

Wow, the developer is fast in fixing bugs! For the bug listed below, and the work around, well, if you upgrade to 1.5.6, everything is fixed. In doing a "thorough review', I had a chance to play with the split between multiple people option, and it's great! Not only do you get the exact amount to meet your total, but you can modify the individual total up or down by a dollar, or click in the space and change it to whatever you want and see how the grand total and tip amount are affected. Since most group parties just toss in paper money and not deal with coins, the ability to slide up or down a dollar at a time and watch the total tip amount change is brilliant. I really do think this is the best tip program out there. If you do too, please click the 'Most Helpful' button below to give others a chance to read this review, too.

UPDATE:

Here's a work around to the bug introduced by this update. Open the app as normal and put in the Bill Amount. Select a tip amount from one of the tip buttons 10-15-18-20%, then hit Done. If you're happy with the tip and total, fine. You're finished. If you want to round the Grand Total up or down (with the + or - key), or edit the total by clicking in the Grand Total field and putting in your own number, wait! Do this first: On the Tip Percent line, tap the 'other' button, then tap 'Done' on the popup keyboard. That will open the tip amount window but not change any of your numbers. Now if you alter the Grand Total you will see the resulting tip amount change, rounded to the nearest tenth of a percent. In the previous version this tip window opened automatically when you changed the Grand Total field. In this current version you have to open it manually.

To the Developer, PLEASE fix it back to the way it was. I've verified this bug and this work around on both an original iPad and an iPhone 4S. Thank you so much for such a wonderful app that I use all the time. Absolutely the best tip app on the market!

ORIGINAL POST:

This is still the best tip calculator out there, and worthy of 5 stars, but the new version 1.5.5 has introduced a bug in the display for the Tip Percent. In the former version 1.5.4, when you were done with your calculations and decided to round the total up or down with the + or - key, a window on the tip line would open showing you the exact tip percentage to one decimal place (like 19.3% for example). The new version eliminated that wonderful feature. I've gotten the window to open a couple of times by touching on the line, but usually it resets the tip and changes the total again. There have been some changes to the Person Total line at the bottom as well, but I don't ever use that. If you DO upgrade, no big deal. The numbers are all correct as far as I can tell, just the display is now buggy. I'm still giving this awesome app 5 stars.

Since I have the developer's attention (I hope), here's a request in addition to fixing the above bug: When you use the Qualitative Tipping option, the slider is way too sensitive. I try and slide it to round my total to, say, $23.50 rather than choose $23.00 or $24.00. It is extremely difficult to get the cents to stop exactly. I noticed that the Service slider goes from 0% to 23%. If you could change it so the low is 10% and the high is 25%, it would probably be easier to use and more realistic of true tipping amounts.

I absolutely LOVE the built in email option. Every meal I use it and have my gmail account set up to filter and save each one. I've got my meal accounting done automatically, and I do it after I pay the check and before I leave the restaurant (usually when they are running the credit card). Nice touch. Thanks!

Live this app!

This is great! I am going to use this all the time, in restaurants and to split the bills at home with my roommate. It will be great to split gift checks and just sen the total in an e-mail right to the other parties involved, you can just total it up and send the tab from the app. This makes the process so easy and quick! Love it!
