Description
We at idvance LLC are proud to introduce version 2.1 of iTrumpet. iTrumpet is for people who play "real world" trumpets, not for the casual gamer:
A. iTrumpet does not require you to blow into the iPhone microphone! You blow a real trumpet using a range of mouth positions. We have deliberately chosen not to require confusing alternate behavior for your lips and tongue - we see blowing into the iPhone microphone as an awkward gimmick, not as a practical design point.
B. iTrumpet does not require contrary fingering! You play iTrumpet like a real trumpet, using your right fingers to press keys. To control embouchure, and to get open notes, you use your left thumb - which is idle when playing a real trumpet.
C. iTrumpet simulates a B flat (transposing) trumpet with a full three octave range - and with respectable sound quality for a simulator.
We designed and tested iTrumpet with experienced trumpet players. We believe that if you are a student or a professional musician, you will find our solution most compatible with how you play your real world instrument. What's New In Version 2.1
Version 2.1 of iTrumpet delivers the following changes:
- A reviewer identifying himself as Tiberius Rautha suggested that in defining 8 embouchures, we had associated most open notes with the succeeding embouchure when we should have associated each with the preceding embouchure - thinking this through, we realized he was right and we have changed embouchure settings accordingly.
- You can now switch between open notes and other notes much better. We think this addresses various other reviewers' critiques.
After you are comfortable with this latest release, please let us know what improvements to consider for the next release, through writing a review, or better yet, by communicating more fully with us back and forth through info@idvance.com.

The hardest part of using this app is the 2 handed coordination, I don't like having to put a finger down for open notes (e.g., middle C, G ect) And I don't like having to press different buttons in order to change the embouchure. (although I think it's very innovative) I wouldn't mind being about to switch between button mode like it has now, and a blow into the mike mode. All and all it's a neat app for the non trumpet player. But for someone who's been playing for 13 years like me it's just eh.
Trills and other things
I'm not sure if this can do trills but it seems that i haven't yet found out how if it does. Sure you can switch the register but it's not fast enough. I play trumpet and love this app but i wish there could be mutes, trills and an easier way to play scales or songs. Overall though, it's great and I love it! You should get it too if you like trumpets
too hard to use
Having to press 8 different buttons to swith ranges makes this very difficult to play, as does the method for playing open notes (pressing somewhere on the screen where there isnt a button). It also glitches a lot, playing notes that you arent pressing, and it wont register notes if you start to play too fast. Overall, this app is too difficult to use to make it worth your time.
