Description
Key Wiz is a great way to learn & improve reading for piano.
A single app for both iPhone & iPad. Quiz yourself on reading Bass, Treble, or both staves within four octaves. A Note appears on the staff, you tap or slide your finger to the note on the piano keyboard. Play the correct key and a new note appears. Get it wrong and you'll be shown the correct key.
Monitor your progress on the history page: Key Wiz keeps track of your fastest times for each staff, and the number of right and wrong attempts you've ever made for each note. Quality piano samples are played with each piano key.
What's New in Version 1.5

Added option to quiz using 'piano keyboard' or 'letter (ABCDEFG)'.

Excellent learning method - an A+ app!
Four octaves is small for an iPhone, but as directions say: "SLIDE finger to the note, then lift finger to submit answer," makes it very easy to pick the exact key I want.
I learned to read music in a very short amount of time using Key Wiz. Now when I attempt to read sheet music, the sharps and flats come just as easy. I thought this app should have key signatures, but it's really unnecessary - if your fast with Key Wiz, your time learning to read other key signatures is better spent reading and playing actual scores on a real piano. Key Wiz is a basic method for knowing and refreshing these four octaves - an essential foundation to grow from.
Key Wiz is a must have app & a dollar well spent!
4 octaves is too small on ipod touch
I bought this for my ipod touch, but can't really use it since the keyboard display is so small. Even my 5 year old had trouble pressing the right key on such a small screen. I bet this is an awesome training app on the ipad, but don't bother with it on a iphone/ipod. Would have been nice if you could set it to just one octave for the small screen.
Good mix of value and features, but room for improvement
In regards to using this app on the iPhone...
Pros
- Cheap Price compared to similar Apps.
- Extensive Keyboard compared to other similar iPhone Apps. (I like the "slide until you highlight the correct key" option)
- Has both Treble and Bass cleft.
Cons
- There should be enough room to show the Grand Staff (Like the iPad version) rather than splitting up the Treble & Bass cleft. Having them separate is counter intuitive to how you actually read music.
- Should have the option for accidentals.
Requested Features
- Selectable Key Signatures
- Allow multiple guesses.
