Know the food in season near you.

Eating local food when it’s in season is an increasingly popular goal amongst people who are interested in eating the tastiest, healthiest food while also being good to the environment. Knowing what’s available in your area at a given time of year is often difficult to determine, so we’ve taken on the task of collecting data from a variety of sources and presenting it all in the most understandable of ways. The Locavore iPhone app will come in handy next time you’re at the market and want to know what’s actually being grown near you, and what is most likely to taste the best right now.

Whether you’re just trying to become more aware of what’s in season around you, or you are fully committed to eating only locally grown food, this app will help you know what your options are.

Needs to update interface

I love the idea of this app, but the front end for the local farmer's markets is very poor. The main reason I have this is to get quick information on markets when I travel. All this app does is refer you to a webpage which is very hard to read on the phone. It should have another way to parse the information and present it in a easy-to-use way on the iPhone screen. Otherwise I could just use Safari and find the same website on LocalHarvest. For $2.99 this app should work a bit harder than it does.

Great But Markets Need Work

This app is fantastic in most all regards. It provides information on what's in season and what will be soon in your area. It even lists local farmers markets. The only downside is that the farmers markets are not listed in an easily accessible mobile way. Instead the app uses a built in browser to load a website with the info. This takes a little longer and doesn't look as nice. Finding information is not as easy and there isn't support for things like maps of where the markets are in relation to you.

Doesn't work with itouch

It's a great app but since I have the iPod touch and it doesn't have gps so it's worthless. If this app allows people to enter their zipcodes ib the future it could be the best app out there
