I find this app not only hugely incomplete but hugely irritating. Hoping to find a new brunch recipe, I looked at 'Egg and Toast Ideas'. According to the ingredients and instructions, I am to place an egg on a piece of bread, cover with the desired topping, and bake. One would think that (given the name of the dish) included somewhere, either in the ingredients or instructions, would be some ideas for toppings that work nicely, but you won't find them. Just an egg on a piece of toast, and and you figure out the rest. Good luck looking at the tiny picture to determine what toppings might work well - is that asparagus, or spinach, or green beans? precooked or not? topped by cheese, or cream sauce, or hollandaise? homemade? how? And, by the way, you are to test for egg-doneness by piercing the yolk to make sure it's still slightly runny. That pierced and running yolk will certainly look great when served to a guest. Add to this the ever-present advertisement for Del Monte that pops up on every screen and you get an app that I'll never open again.
If looks could kill...
This app. would hurt bad. Somebody please fix the icon!!! It's bad enough that we have to see a portait of her everytime we browse our phone but why the developers thought it was ok if the app name showed up as "Martha...food" is beyond me. "everyday food" would have been the obvoiusly choice. Knowing that magazine I would expect the developers to take a cue from the graphical motifs as well. But they didn't.
The recipes are solid however. Better than "Epicuruous" but not by much. Functionality is meh, and might take some getting used to. I really like the dinner suggestions. I wish the interface wasnt so cumbersome abd do we need ads in a paid app? This is a recipe for greed. Nonetheless this app needs a facelift badly.
good app
I love MS recipes and Everyday Food magazine. Would be helpful if there were more advanced search criteria (eg more ingredient choices than just one, healthy dishes by low calorie low fat, ease of preparation, etc.). Also more recipes should be available. I think this is limited. Other than that, it's one of the best recipe apps on here and will be my go-to search on the run.
