Split transactions - at last! 😁
This functionality was one of the few things I needed to use the Mint website to accomplish (well after the fact, some weeks later when I find the receipt whilst cleaning). Now I can split transactions as soon as they appear in mint, right on the iPhone/iPad.
It works perfectly well, but is a little laborious - it only splits by amount (which is very intuitive), and allows one to set the category, but to do any other kind of editing, such as add a note or tag, one has to save the split transactions, wait until the display refreshes to show the new items, then edit each one individually. It would be nice if the table rows in the split transaction popover used a disclosure icon on the right to bring up the standard item editor field on the right (albeit with no Split button to avoid recursion), so that all edits to split transactions are possible without having to save, then manually find the now-split transactions in the transaction list.
One more thing... The app does appear to refresh excessively - this crept in with a previous update. That is, the translucent activity spinner appears in the center of the screen after most edits. I understand why it would need to refresh, but it should be more transparent to the user - right now, there is a frustrating reload phase after any edits. Moreover, the progress spinner appears and disappears several times, rather than just showing up once, and disappearing after the refresh. I'd rather not see that at all, and would like the table to animate the changes (eg. rows inserted/removed) so I can see what changed. At the moment, the progress spinner flickers a few times, then it looks like the table data is basically discarded and reloaded afresh, which also changes the order of the transactions, so the transaction I was looking at (and edited) is now elsewhere in the list.
New update rocks!!
I looooove mint.com. Now you can split transactions and adjust budgets! Woohoo! Yay!! :)
