Description
One Tap Dial is BACK and fully compatible with iPhone OS 3.1!
Finally, a single application that lets you create multiple speed dial icons on your iPhone's Home screen!
Why buy a separate app for every speed dial contact when One Tap Dial lets you create as many as you'd like! One Tap Dial also lets you choose the icon's image and name and lets you put that icon anywhere on your iPhone's Home screen.
NEW WITH VERSION 2.0: Choose a PHOTO from your iPhone or take a photo with the camera to use as the icon's image! You can also use a photo already associated with that contact.
The app store's most convenient way to dial is also the most convenient way to TEXT. Each Home screen icon can be configured to immediately dial a contact, open a Text/SMS window for that contact, or prompt you to choose each time.
One Tap Dial does NOT access the Internet when you make a call. The only time One Tap Dial uses the Internet is during the icon creation process. Once your direct dial icon is created on the iPhone’s Home screen, Internet access is no longer necessary. One Tap Dial NEVER sends your contact’s phone number to the One Tap Dial server or anywhere else.
A NOTE ABOUT THE REVIEWS: One Tap Dial has evolved considerably since it was introduced. Photo/Camera support has been added, performance has been improved dramatically, and One Tap Texting has been added all as a direct result of the feedback I've received from users.
Here are some more ways to use One Tap Dial:
Create groups by putting direct dial icons for your friends, family or co-workers on their own page of the iPhone Home screen.
Put direct dial icons for your most frequently called contacts on the first page of the iPhone Home screen for instant access.
One Tap Dial requires a working Internet connection (Edge, 3G, or Wi-Fi) to create speed dial contacts that can be placed on your iPhone Home screen. Internet access is NEVER required (or used) when placing a call.
Get One Tap Dial now, and give your fingers a BREAK!
What's New in Version 2.0

You can now use PHOTOS from your phone for icon images!

Numerous user interface changes, bug fixes and performance improvements.
Customer Reviews
It's good but there's room for improvement!
Pros:
- Allows you to create an unlimited amount of one-touch speed dial buttons.
- Allows you to label the each button with your own text.
- Allows you select from a variety of icon graphics.
- The developer was friendly, open to suggestions, and promptly responded to emails.
Cons:
- It's a bit slower than other apps such as the free "Speed Dial" app. To give you and idea, Speed Dial takes about 2-3 seconds to make a call. One Tap Dial (as of 11-16-08) take about 4-5 seconds. For me this is not a big deal because it is still faster than navigating to my favorites list and clicking on my contact manually.
- As of 11-13-2008 One Tap Dial "DOES NOT REQUIRE AN INTERNET CONNECTION TO PLACE A CALL" but it does use Safari to trigger the dialing script. This confused me at first because it appeared that it required an internet connection to make a call.
- Every time that you place a call it launches Safari, loads a new page and then dials the call. If you dial 10 calls in a row it will open 8 new Safari pages (which is the maximum that Safari currently allows open at one time) and then it starts to overwrite then in sequential order. So if you like to always keep certain Safari pages open this may be a problem for you. It’s also not visually appealing to see Safari load every time I use One Tap Dial.
- The user is unable to use their own graphics. It would be great if the user could choose from photos or graphics stored in their photo library.
.
Despite the cons this is still a good app and I would recommend it. Hopefully the developer will continue to make updates and improvements and can figure out ways around the current programming limitations that Apple has imposed.
*** When you are reviewing iPhone apps you should consider that some of the apps do not perform exactly the way that you want because the developers must work within Apple’s programming guidelines.
Perfect!!
Thanks for the freebe!!
Very nice
Finally my search for speed dial is over, the icon selection is limited but the ability to name icon is just what I have been looking for.
