Is This a Real Panoramic App?
It seems to me that this app doesnt' really stitch the pics together as you would expect in a panoramic app, rather it just butts them into each other and blurs the line between them. Using the tips, holding the camera steady, overlapping sufficiently between shots, etc doesn't seem to produce a real panoramic shot. Am I missing something or is everyone all fired up about butting pics together? A real panoramic app would recognize and line up objects in the overlapping shots, and blend them into each other...
Excellent app for the price!
I have purchased both Pano and Panorama. Personally I feel the image quality of Panorama is slightly better. I did about 10 side by side panos and Panorama's quality was slightly better every time (when viewed closely in photoshop). Panorama seems to use more overlap to construct their panormas, which creates a more seamless appearance. However, I did like Pano's interface better because of the transparency edge for lining up the images. Also it requires less button pushing to create the final image. To the casual observer the quality of both programs is very close. Considering the price difference and the interface it's hard not to recommend Pano, however for me the higher quality of the images (more seamless) created in Panorama will keep it on my phone rather than Pano. I will definitely check back when updates are released. I am amazed at how well both of these apps are able to create excellent images! You should note that due to the limitations of the iphone's mail program the finished panoramas will be sent via email at 800px wide. However, If you import them from from the phone into iphoto they end up at about 2600 px wide.
Not as good as Panorama app...
First the good: Pano is less expensive than "Panorama" app (also available in the App Store), and it has a semi-transparent alignment guide that Panorama lacks.
Now the Same: Both apps suffer from some problems such as only being able to take horizontal panoramas, and only being able to create 600 pixel tall images.
And then the bad: Trumping everything else is the fact that when compared side-by-side, Panorama app does a much better job of aligning my panorama, and creates a more sharp and less washed-out picture than this Pano app does.
Bottom line: I rated both programs at 3-stars due to the problems. Pano gaines some points for its price, but loses for picture quality. Panorama app gaines points for picture quality, but is triple the price...
