Also available for the iPhone and iPod Touch with identical functionality, “The Pedlar Lady of Gushing Cross” is a 3D animated interactive storytelling app featuring film-calibre, sophisticated 3D animated illustrations and text, original music, professional voiceover in English and Spanish, and evocative filmic sound effects.
The story, inspired by the age-old tale of a man who becomes rich through a dream, describes the journey of a poor pedlar woman who, guided by the shifting line between the real and the unreal, discovers a surprising and wonderful treasure.
The app, the first in Moving Tales’ “Classic World Tales” series, is a state-of-the-art digital ‘mash-up’ of methods from the worlds of ebook publishing, graphic novels, film and interactive media.
“The Pedlar Lady” also features randomly selected alternate views, sound effects and extras, so that no two viewings are alike. It offers sophisticated and dynamic typography, poetic language, and a Spanish option that allows viewers to listen to and see the story in Spanish and English, and even alternate between the two as the story is being experienced.

Disappointing
The story itself is good, though much shorter than I'd expected. For $7, you'd think it would last more than one bedtime. As an app, also, it was quite disappointing. It's missing even the most basic functionality. You can't pause it, for instance, or bookmark your spot. It doesn't even pause momentarily if you click on the menu (which covers the screen such that you can't see the story). Nor does it automatically resume where you were, if you actually close the app. Again, considering that so many apps range from free to about $5, for the price of this one I really expected more. If their other titles were about half the price, I might consider them. At the current price, though, I won't.
Our 12 year old and 8 year old can't wait to get to bed.
Wonderful for the entire family. The "dripping" text, the story--everything is beautiful. Thank you. I have bought them all. I just want more!
Great App, great content, studious development
I had an initial problem (which turned out to be on my end) playing the app; the folks at Moving Tales were so gracious about helping me solve the issue.
This is a wonderful way to get kids to read; the words are there, pronounced and the stories are richly told. The art is superior in design and the voice over pleasant to hear more then once (which you children will demand).
