Gorgeous lil' App
Very polished and designed well. Does what it advertises.
I'm a sucker for good clean, well thought out design. Make a weather app in the same vein and I'll ditch The Weather Channel in a heart beat.
Doesn
I bought this app because I'm tracking the new moons. I also went on-line to confirm this app but found that quiet a number of 'new moon' dates don't match up. I have the setting correct according to hemisphere and time zone. I checked it against several on-line sites and although they all agree, this app is a day off every few months. Also some new moons are missing, ie. June 1, 2011 then then next one is July 30, July 1 is missing (I'm referring to the highlight feature on the calander, it's not highlighted). The other thing bugging me is the constant pop up. I don't have 3g, I'm 1st generation iphone but the app insists on syncing me with gps so it keeps popping up to ask if I'd like to use my current location and I have to tell it 'don't allow', then it pop's up again to tell me it can't get my current loc, 'try again?'. The page forward feature is very touchy as well, have to tap again and again (back arrow works fine). It's not for me. I do like the way it looks, but pretty just doesn't cut it here.
It's ok
I feel bad giving it a three star review seeing as I just won this app in their little Twitter promo event tonight...
Phases certainly does what it says, but I would expect Retina support from a great company like Bjango. I get that they're trying to mimic the iPhone's built in weather app, but it seems awkward and limiting. In the weather app, each "card" you slide to is a different city, but it shows the same type of data. Here in Phases, each card shows different kinds of data (and on some of the cards, you can arrow over to different dates). So, it's slightly jarring to see a different use of an existing UI action.
Also, I'm writing this on Dec 8th, 2010. This app hasn't been updated since Nov 6, 2009. My guess is that this app has been abandoned. Like I said, this is very un-Bjango.
