Description
For editing text on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch. PlainText is a simple text editor with an uncomplicated, paper-like user interface. Unlike the default Notes app, PlainText allows you to create and organize your documents in folders and sync everything with Dropbox.com.
• FOLDERS keep your documents organized.
• PAPER-LIKE INTERFACE keeps the focus on your text.
• DROPBOX SYNC means your documents are always available.
“A truly great example of how iPad apps should be written. PlainText is simple, uncluttered, and very pretty. It’s a lovely thing to be looking at for one, two, three, four hours while you’re trying to write something.”
— Andy Ihnatko, MacBreak Weekly

A few notes:
- Thanks for sending us your bug reports! We still can't reproduce certain ones on our devices (such as an occasional issue with notifications), which we need in order to fix them. We're always working on the ones we can!
- If PlainText is crashing on launch, you may need to reset the Dropbox token. Here's how: Put your device into Airplane mode, unlink from Dropbox, turn off Airplane mode, and relink to Dropbox.
- As always, please check out the PlainText FAQ on our website!

The app was perfect until
Advertisement was added, shame you followed the others. I thought you were one of the few exceptions that recognize how important focus & concentration are.
Works great with Notational Velocity
The 1.6 update greatly improves search UI and the whole app feels faster and more reliable. I don't understand why this app is constantly left off best-of lists for writing and note taking on iOS. Do it!
I was apprehensive about switching to PlainText, since Simplenote sync (with Notational Velocity on the Mac) has been reliable for me, and I've come to rely heavily on NV sync. But I'm glad I did.
PlainText is beautiful, and its flat, simple UI provides welcome relief from all the drop-shadowed text and skeuomorphic buttons on most iPhone apps. It's wicked fast and Dropbox sync is extremely quick and reliable - just as good as Simplenote or better.
Search works great, although I really wish query strings were highlighted in the resulting notes. That's my one niggle, and for me, it's the one area where Simplenote is superior, feature-wise, for now. On the other hand, PlainText works just as well as Simplenote, looks a ton better, is much cheaper to use ad-free, and uses Dropbox sync, which on a gut level I just kinda trust more.
Anyone who's one-starring this app because it costs $5 to permanently remove ads should get a grip. You all paid $200 for a phone and $70/month to AT&T. Paying $5 for a very usable, attractive app that reliably syncs via Dropbox is a great deal, and a good way to support an indie developer.
Great but....
Not the way to go if you are writing a huge txt doc with over 8k words
