How many times have you lined up your shot, confident that you had it all figured out, only to watch helplessly as the ball rolled wide of the pin? Was it the way the grass was cut? Did you miscalculate the break of the green? It could have been any one of a dozen or more things; all of them equally frustrating.
Putting Pal for iPhone puts an end to that frustration, permanently. Most green readers work like a carpenter's level to help you judge the slope, or "break", of the green. By using some of the great features of your iPhone, Putting Pal goes way beyond what other digital green readers can do.

Just set your iPhone on the green between the ball and the pin. Tap the break meter and it will turn yellow as it reads the slope of the green. You'll know it's done when it chimes. The break direction and slope are displayed for you right on the screen, and they will stay there until you tap the meter again.
Now hold up the device to frame your shot in the display. Make sure to hold it level. If you see red arrows, that means you're not holding the device level. Simply adjust until they're no longer visible.
Next, adjust the ball and pin sliders until the reticles, or crosshairs, line up with your shot. As you do, the app will calculate the path that your ball will travel, accounting for the break direction and slope. The yellow arrow shows you the path your ball should take to reach the hole. The dotted white lines give you additional trajectories for reference—where you can expect the ball to go if you hit it directly toward the cup, as well as 15 and 30 degrees left or right of center. You can also try adjusting the strength meter to see how hitting the ball with more or less force will affect the trajectory before moving on to the final step: sinking the putt!
