Description
Qingwen is an extremely focused and streamlined Chinese-English and English-Chinese dictionary designed with the Chinese reader in mind. Lookup is fast and easy, with just one search field which takes anything you throw at it - 汉字, Pinyin or English - and gives you the most relevant results.
Students learning Chinese can use the word lists feature to keep track of dictionary entries for future reference. Each entry also has links to related entries and example sentences to show the word being used in context.
Both Mandarin and Cantonese are fully supported for search, display and audio playback.
Qingwen is powered by data from CC-CEDICT and Tatoeba.org.
NOTE: An active internet connection is required for the audio playback feature.

You can now provide feedback for Qingwen by choosing the Provide Feedback option in the Settings tab

Good for beginners
My mother-in-law lives with us and she only speaks Cantonese. This app is a very helpful tool for us to communicate. This app has great features including pin yin for both mandarin and cantonese, and audio playback (via internet only) for both mandarin and cantonese. However, the rate of playback is way to slow for anyone who wants to hear the words as they would actually be spoken and there appears to be no way to speed up the audio playback. The slow audio playback is good for a complete novice to the chinese spoken language, but it is a bit annoying for those who already have established some basic chinese language skills. Also, the audio playback for Cantonese has a lot of background noise/crackling.

I just recently reviewed this app but spoke too soon. Although I've already given this app 5 stars, it now deserves 10 STARS! Love the new features. Thanks!
