Not bad needs work
There is one issue with the game the touch screen. When using the touch method your finger covers the ship so you can't see what's going to hit you . Make it so it's like some of the other jet games. You can use your finger to controll but you can also see the ship your finger doesn't cover it . the rest of the optional contolls are just horrible. Tilt just moves the ship to slow and the other version makes the scree tiny. So just fix the touch version and you'll have yourself five stars. Otherwise a good game
Blast from the past :)
This game brings back good memories of hours and quarters wasted away in a video arcade. Graphics-wise, nothing has changed too much which makes it ideal for retro gamers who are looking for the same side-scrolling coin-op action of days gone by. Playability, however, is pretty impressive. I love the Tilt & Touch mode which enabled movement by simply tilting the iPhone in the desired direction. Bundle that with the auto-fire feature and you're all set for hours of easy going fun.
My only issue is that the size of the iPhone screen makes it tricky to maneuver the craft around the limited space, especially in tight spaces and when you're faced with a hail of bullets and enemy ships. I guess this adds to the thrill and challenge, but it can get quite tricky. Fortunately, it's easy to master since the enemies spawn from the same locations!
Aside from this, the game is amazing. It's easy to pick up and difficult to put down. Whether or not you're familiar with R-Type, this is a must-have for shoot 'em up fans. Totally enjoyable :)
Needs finishing touches
This game is just as difficult as you remember...
The pleasure of beating each boss is the ONLY thing that keeps your frustration from boiling over too far to where you want to throw your iPhone across the room.
The sound needs a bit of work and though the visuals are nice it doesn't seem like it currently supports the retina display.
The touch controls sometimes can cause the user to die due to a finger in the way...however the user should just be prepared to look behind the ship anyway...it's R Type your gonna die like in 2 seconds anyway from crashing, just try doing it better.
iPad support would be a great addition, the ability to use the iPad as the screen and the iPhone as the controller could be really cool.
