Great app for young kids!
This app is everything you want in an app for young kids. It has adorable graphics, fun ideas, engaging interactivity and, most importantly, it's Easy for them to play on their own! The app is very simple which is what I love about it - it doesn't feel like a video game. Just plain, simple fun that both my girls enjoyed. Perfect for kids aged 18mos - 4.
Two Thumbs Up
This app was a lifesaver for us during a recent flight to NYC. My 2.5 year old son and I enjoy playing it together--he gets to "drive" the app, and I read the tips. He's so proud of himself when he can say the letters and loves listening to the sounds. We were both surprised to see the animation when you tilt the iPhone--fun feature to go with the graphics. He frequently asks for the letter game and I like that it's fun andhelping him learn.
Educationally sound and entertaining!
I am the mother of a typical preschooler and a seven-year-old with special needs. They BOTH enjoy this app. I also work with typical and special needs preschoolers in the schools-this app has been especially great for working on receptive and expressive language skills.
Unlike many ABC apps, there is more to talk about than just "A is for apple". The kids quickly figure out that there is a hidden action to discover and they look forward to seeing what will happen next (I shake it for them). The only caveat is the illustration for "Q", which shows an infant nestled up in its cradle, with a quilt covering the baby. It is not 100% clear that the "Q" is supposed to represent the quilt, since the action highlighted is the rocking of the cradle. Perhaps instead the edges of the quilt could light up and move with the shaking action, or the baby could squirm in the quilt, making it move.
Anyhow, If you're just looking for something to babysit your kid, this definitely has the entertainment value to fit that bill, given that your child has mastered the shaking motion. If you were also hoping for more than that, you're in luck because in my professional opinion this has more educational value also.
