v 2.0: How Much Space is Needed for Photos?? Infinite??
This is potentially interesting and informative, and maybe even inspirational (feeling like a world citizen, etc), but there's a glitch--The app is listed in the app store as 5.5 Mb, but when I start it, it begins to gradually download an apparently infinite quantity of photos of the world. It's definitely pretty, but it filled up half of my remaining 1.6 Gb, before I did a force quit and cleared the memory with Memory Pro to make it stop. I immediately deleted the app, but the extra space is now gone from my phone. I assume the photos are still somewhere on my iPhone, and I'll have to do a Restore to get the space back. Nice Idea, but the space required for the photos is not readily apparent in app description. OOPS!
P.S.--Otherwise, I like the Rough Guided stuff (I've purchased a couple of their books on iBooks)
Beautiful photos! Didn't have memory issue
After reading feedback below, I decided to try it on my iPad 2 anyway. So I checked memory before and after downloading the app AND downloading all the pictures. It took only 81 MB which I feel is well worth it due to the beauty of the pictures and the information given for each one. I'm not sure why others had memory issues with the complete download. I guess since I never get to go anywhere, it's definitely worth 81 MB to see a glimpse of the world! Thanks for an interesting and free app!
Nice photos, poor app
See all those photos in the screenshot up there? When you first start this app, it will slowly download and store *all* of them - not thumbnails, the full photos - and there's no way to stop it, or limit the memory it consumes. Apart from uninstalling, of course...
