Loving it so far
Still exploring this app but so far very happy with it. Very user-friendly and the samples are excellent - extremely happy now that it has been updated for the Ipad. Will update this review as I use more of the features.
One very minor thing - I spent the 20 dollars for the full version upgrade expecting the icon would change to no longer have that annoying red free banner on it, but not so. Of course changing the icon is not the reason I got the upgrade, and the icon doesn't affect my rating or my enjoyment of the app itself, but hope this is something the developers can change nonetheless.
I like the sounds but I'm having big problems
First, to Chordal... when you upgrade in-app, you don't own SampleTank. You own SampleTank Free with a lot of additional sounds.. I've spent $60 for the upgrade and all the sounds and as far as Apple is concerned, I haven't paid a penny. I still own the free app. I discovered that when I tried to comment on the SampleTank page.
It's not a big deal, because the helpful guy in tech support says that the programs are basically identical and we will get all the updates. But if you are considering buying SampleTank, I would recommend buying it rather than upgrading.
That's not a big deal. However, I am having a serious problem outputting the loops to my computer. When I do it I get a dropout in sound and a little glitch. I've done it through email and file sharing and on Mac and PC. The same thing happens. It's not a useful musical loop. I sent copies of my loops to IK Multimedia and they say they've never seen it before. So if anybody is reading this I would appreciate it if they would email themselves some loops. If enough people share this problem, then IK may be more likely to address it.
Tech support has been really helpful, but they told me I might fix the problem by deleting the program and reinstalling. So I did, which wiped out all the music I'd been creating for weeks. I knew that would happen, but I felt it was worth it if I could get a program that would let me send stuff to Ableton. Now I am back where I started, with a program that I can't really use and have lost all these cool patterns i spent so many hours tweaking.
This is a great sound module, well worth the money. It is fun to make patterns on it. I wish it worked like a drum machine so that you could put the patterns into sequence and make a song. I enjoy making patterns on it just for the hell of it, but I have to say I am very disappointed. I guess I am out of luck because it doesn't work for me. Anybody else having this problem with the loops they output?
And this is where it is so disappointing that, after spending $60, I don't own SampleTank. Because of that, I can't comment on the SampleTank page where so many professional users are likely to be.

Does't work on Synth Station, which is a dock.
