Outstanding learning app
Not really for freeplay, this is a learning app. It is fun to play. It has a follow the leader type note game, as well as chords, drum patterns. Basic stuff but fun. Note on price to whiners who will say it is too high or should be free, just ask your mommy for more allowance. Seriously though, I did pause at the price due to being burned before by other apps, especially since it has the movie tie in. However this is worth the price to me, and I am not a big fan of the movie. In fact the only real tie in is the title and jack black sound clips. Neither interferes with a great learning app like this. Having played it, it was worth more money to me and I would have even paid the 10$ price some games asked. However, I understand the price seems high. If you want to learn music, it is worth it. If you just want freeplay or think it is all about the movie, don't buy it.
Very Cool
This app has tons of stuff in it. There's lots of music theory (note and chord recognition, etc.) if you're into that sort of thing. You can also just jam with the built-in songs or to your iPod music. If you have external speakers or headphones it sounds MUCH better. Jamming to Sweet Home Alabama in the "Playground" area rocks!
Starting the Drum Tab games confused me. Turns out you need to press the start button at the top of the screen to start them. They should make that clearer.
This App Rocks!
I've always had a desire to learn how to play music, beyond just enjoying listening to it. This app is so cool because it lets me learn the basics of how rock and roll music works. It's been fun to just riff along with my music in my iTunes library, as well as learn melody and harmony and stuff. Definitely worth the money and a cool school to learn more about how to play music.
