This application uses official public resources to lookup your address and show to which LAUSD (second largest school district in U.S.) public schools boundaries does it belong.
When you are looking for new apartment or house for your family it's very important to know what kind of schools are around. Generally, areas with better public schools tend to be safer. Especially if your child is growing up and will need to go to the school soon, it's important for you to know what choices will you have. Sometimes even couple blocks may lead to different school!
Application is very easy to use on the go, as beyond general lookup "by address" it utilizes geo-location features of the iPhone to get your current position and help to see which schools are around you.
REQUIREMENTS and DISCLAIMER: This application utilizes public official Web sites of L.A. County Registrar - Recorder/County Clerk District Lookup (http://lavote.net) and L.A. Unified School District School Finder (http://lausd.net/) to lookup your address and resolve school boundaries for your location. Active Internet connection is required. If above mentioned Web resources will not be available, or if they stop providing those services - this application may stop working properly. Author cannot guarantee existence, availability, performance or access to the above mentioned official public Web resources.

Wonderful app to use while house hunting
I've found this basic clean app to be invaluable while driving to open houses and house hunting in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Often times, a city feeds into multiple school systems in LA. For example, a home in West Hills could could feed into Woodland hills's high school, Chatsworth's, or Canoga Park's. With this app in hand, and my husband driving ( hehe), I input the address and I get the names of the elementary, middle and high school for that particular home, API scores and links to their websites. So we know instantly if it's worth walking into an open house or not. A great time saver!
Often times even the realtor at the open houses we go to, is only able to tell us the high school that a home goes to, so as the mom of two preschoolers, this has been quite helpful to us.
My only wish is that it covered Las Virgenes Unified Schools too, as a small portion of cities on the border, like West Hills and Woodland Hills, have some homes that feed into Calabasas schools.
I've used this app for 4 months now and it's been very helpful to us, thanks. :)
