Description

Scribe is a powerful text editor for people who write on the web. With easy HTML markup addition and a clutter-free interface, it's perfect for those who want to write rather than code.

Features include:

*Easy HTML Markup Addition - Scribe uses iOS' built-in cut & paste menu to provide you with quick access to common markup options.

*Custom Typography - Scribe uses a custom version of the awesome free typeface Anonymous Pro, modified with extra space to let your prose breathe.

*Local File Storage with iCloud and Dropbox Support - Scribe stores all your files locally by default, but also supports syncing via iCloud and Dropbox.

*Markdown Support - For those who'd rather use Markdown syntax, Scribe offers full Markdown support, using the same menu options as HTML markup.

*Text Expander Support*

*Export via Email*

*AirPrint Support*

*Word Count, Character Count, and Line Count*

*Gesture-based Undo & Redo*

*Interface-free Mode*

And much more. In addition, it's a Universal app, so you only need to purchase it once to have it on both your iPad and iPhone/iPod touch.

Scribe requires an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad running iOS 5.0 or later. iCloud and Dropbox Support require an iCloud or Dropbox account, respectively.

Top used app

Clean. Quick. Does what I need.

Pretty good

Quick and easy to use. Great for writing on the go.

Issues with iCloud

At first glance I was well pleased. The app is responsive and includes the features I need, and I especially liked the ability to move the insertion point a space at a time right or leftward by tapping in the appropriate margin.

But I cannot get the iPad and iPhone versions to cooperate on documents stored in iCloud or Dropbox. A small txt document saved to iCloud by the iPad version finally showed up so I could edit and add to it using the iPhone version. But those edits resulted in a zero-k file on the iPad side, while the entire document remains visible and editable on the iPhone client. I have to consider that a serious bug at this point. I'm hopeful it will be fixed but meanwhile it makes the cloud storage features suspect.
-----------
After some more use spanning a few weeks, I've seen no recurrence of the issues I ran into "out of the box." Syncing to iCloud has been problem-free since that first misadventure. I now find myself using Scribe almost every day. It's a nice note taking app and the iCloud sync makes it quite useful when I jump from iPhone to iPad and back. I like the included typeface which is clean and easy to read. (Syncs to Dropbox as well.)
