Version 1.1.1 is a maintenance release, solely focused on improving the game's stability and fixing known bugs.

It's a Small World after all
Small World for iPad is, as the name implies, an iPad implementation of the Days of Wonder game Small World. Overall I can happily recommend this game, however there are some things which players new to the game and experts alike should be aware of before purchase.
Without going into too much detail about the rules (check out BoardGameGeek for more in-depth rules reviews), players select various races with special powers and use them to try and get points by conquering land spaces on the board. When a race is no longer useful, it can be put into decline and a new race is selected. After 10 rounds the player with the highest score wins.
The graphics are top notch in the game and the user interface is good. Two expansions that were originally made available for the board game are also available as expansions to the iPad version for a small fee.
The original board game supports up to 5 players, but this only has the small board and only supports two players. When you play in 2p mode, you can sit opposite each other and do not have to pass the iPad as it automatically switches the relevant information to the other direction (the board itself does not rotate but this isn't an issue). I mostly play this way; quick, 2p Small World and no pieces to put away!
The built in AI opponent I found to be very weak, even after the recent update. New players will probably appreciate this at first, but seasoned veterans will be bored. Selectable AI skill level would be a vast improvement.
I still recommend this game and hope that Days of Wonder as well as other Eurogame publishers will continue to bring this type of gaming to the masses on the iPad.
A good game, but new players be warned
This is a fun board game, well implemented on the ipad. However it should be noted the tutorials do a very poor job explaining the game. I came to SW with no prior experience with the board game, and had to immediately get online and download the orignial rulebook to understand what is going on. The iPad app gives you a barebones explanation as to what you can do on a turn, but no guidance on why you would choose to do one thing over in a games with lots of strategic choices and options on any given turn. After about 8 games, i'm starting to get a feel for the decisions in the game. Functionally the game works just fine.
Overall the game is good, but it needs better tutiorials and probably a walkthrough mode for new players showing good decisions to make. The game also needs some varying AI difficulty levels. Its pretty rough on new players.
This game is EXCELLENT
I have played this game by myself and with my son several times around the iPad. I didn't think I would enjoy 2 player local but it is fun! Here is what will make it a TOP notch app for the iPad lover:
1. Multiplayer online is a must !!!!
2. More expansions - would like to see the 10-2010 expansion pack available in the store ASAP. I do own them all currently.
3. More AI options for difficulty
