Use StreamToMe on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to play *video*, *music* and *photo* files streamed over WiFi or 3G from your Mac or Windows PC. **WHAT YOU NEED**
*StreamToMe* runs on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad so long as you use iOS 3.0 or greater.
You also need the free *ServeToMe* program running on either an Intel Mac (OS X 10.5 or later) or a PC with Pentium4 or greater running XP SP2, Vista or Windows. A 1.8Ghz Core 2 Duo or faster is recommended. PowerPC Macs are not supported.
ServeToMe is a *free program* that StreamToMe users can download from http://projectswithlove.com/streamtome/servetome.html
StreamToMe requires a continuous connection between your Mac or PC and your iOS device. Network conditions may affect video quality or the ability to connect.
StreamToMe is a transcoding server and may require significant CPU power to perform transcoding. To play movies in 720p, a 2.4Ghz dual core CPU or better recommended. Pentium 4 and Atom CPU users should use the low video quality option in ServeToMe to avoid pauses and stalling while watching video.
Connecting from an external location (3G or non-local WiFi) requires UPnP/NAT-PMP or manual port forwarding on your router. Some configuration may be required (help at http://projectswithlove.com/streamtome/support_remote_connections.html).
StreamToMe/ServeToMe can stream authorized iTunes protected content by redirecting through the Safari app on your iOS device. StreamToMe/ServeToMe does NOT play back other DRM-protected audio or video formats.

Must have for the new iPad!!!
Own this app for a year and it's been great. The latest update (3.7) enhances the capability of streaming on iPad. Now I can watch all my 720p and 1080p contents on my new iPad, or airplay them to apple tv if I want to. If you got a latest iPad and you have a lot hd contents, you should try this app. The streaming is just smooth and fantastic. In most of the video I have it just streams them without any transcoding which means the graphic is not downgraded at all. Thanks for the new iPads graphic power and how capable this app can do!!! Minus one star because I was hoping a better UI, for instance like Plex, which would definitely make it even better.
For those with AirPlay issue
I have the same problem as a previous reviewer regarding no video using AirPlay. Later I found out that it does work, but not the mirroring aspect. Just have mirroring turned off and when you play the video files, it will go through. I've e-mailed them, hopefully we get a functional mirroring on their next update and this app gets a 5 star from me. As of now, for those who needs mirroring, Air Video is your only option.
April 21st update: mirroring on Apple TV works perfectly now! It has replaced Air Video and Air PlayIt HD for me.
Pretty great, 10-bit issues
Has color troubles with ten bit 720p mkvs. Audio sometimes gets slightly out of synch sometimes. 5 stars once either is fixed.
Retina update looks great.
