BUYER BEWARE!!the developers have disappearedWORTHLESS
Let's all join in to get the BBB on this company's case. Or maybe a class action lawsuit. I think they made an app a couple of years ago, haven't updated it so that it will work with current iPhone software and they've left it up in iTunes and are still charging $4.99 for it. This is robbery to sell an item that doesn't work. Please, please anyone looking at buying this, read these reviews first!! I wish I had.
A few of the problems:
It crashes as soon as you try to do anything
No way of finding out how to use it because there is no help support either in the app or their website
The developers are nonexistent as far as I can tell
Terrible
This software is awful, no way to easily transfer files, and the support blog is pretty much a porn site, is this company still in business? Requesting full refund immediately.
Best Text Editor So Far
I've tried just about every text editor on the app store, and this one takes the cake.
It was I bit confusing at firstt, trying to figure out how to manipulate files when tapping them, because there's no edit button at the top like most apps have. That stands to reason though as, since the app is a file editor, that may be more confusing than it's current setup.
Well, turns out what you have to do is tap the tools icon on the left side of the bottom toolbar. However, because a bold color like blue WAS NOT used to signal that the manipulation mode button is active, it may seem like nothing is happening at first. Once that button has been activated you'll have access to the file manipulation tool bar. Perhaps the developers should consider refining this aspect of the app.
Magic Pad may have been the first copy/paste supporting app, but they fail to include the keyboard gestures/auto-corrections that are standard in just about every other app. It's also quote limited in editable, even viewable file types. With Text Guru it's a no-brainer.
Not only can Text Guru support editing of standard text files, but it also boasts support for editing word files, HTML files with previewable web view option, and tons more that I can't think of at this time. Not only that, but you can view PDFs. And they look damn-great, too!
The FTP feature is also invaluable, although I would like to see support for sftp and more detailed options like custom ports in the next version.
Overall, it's well worth the price if you find yourself constantly creating or editing files (not just notes). Also invaluable for any web developer on the go, so long as they use their private iPhone connection, rather than an insecure wifi connection (think: iPod Touch users). At least until sftp is supported, until which I give this app 4/5 stars.
