Solid app, wish it had another Bible version...
I downloaded the christianaudio Daily Message app last week, and so far, I like it. It's a great idea: an audio Bible that is broken up into short daily hearings, which allows you to hear the entire Bible in one year.
There's a lot to like about the app. It's very simple to use. The narrator has a pleasant enough voice. The daily segments are relatively short, meaning that someone with a short attention span (like me, for instance) can get through it easily. The app also allows for a time of reflection on the reading you just heard. It's a nice feature, since I sometimes am so busy that I don't take time to reflect on what I've just read (or heard).
My only suggestion is that it should be available in something other than the Message paraphrase of the Bible. (I know that the app is "The Daily Message," so that's the Bible paraphrase they used.) I would love to see this same app with a more standard translation, like the ESV ot NIV.
Overall, it's a good app, and with the addition of a better translation, it would be just about perfect. I look forward to seeing the other apps that christianadio has available.
Wish I just had the audiobook...
This is my first app from ChristianAudio.com and also my first audiobook app. I wasn’t sure what to expect. There are things that I like about this app and things that left me wanting.
Pros: This app is clean and easy to use. It divides the Message Bible into daily chunks to easily complete the Bible within a year. I like that you can get a couple chapters of Genesis and a chapter from Psalms on the same day because it adds variety to your daily devotional. The reader is easy to listen to and understand and there is also a feature to bookmark certain daily readings that you wish to remember.
Cons: I was really disappointed when I exited the app in the middle of a reading and I had to start that day all over again. Also ,I wish I were able to exit from the app and still listen. I could then use my Bible app to read along. (Something I actually do with another audiobook Bible from ChristianAudio.com!)
Future: I think it would be great to integrate some social media tools. If I liked a passage and wanted to share it with Twitter or Facebook friends, I could do this at the press of a button.
Summary: The apps greatest strength is its yearly reading schedule, but I think I might rather have the audiobook than the audiobook app.
Best $10 I've ever spent
There is power in God's Word. The Message and this app have been such a blessing to my life. Unfortunately after day 190 this app has failed to open. That was 3 days ago. Hopefully this can be resolved and I can continue listening to God's Word in this format.
