This app "gets it"

I spent an hour searching through the app store fo a decent math drill. It took that long because there are SO MANY of the stinking things. Most (as the author of this app points out) are lame multiple choice programs... Those that have keypad entries often have busy, distracting graphics that try too hard to be cool. The biggest disappointment of all of the apps is the unnecessarily low ceiling. Why would you limit a hungry mind to 12x12 multiplication tables? Or 20x20?

This app "gets it". Not only can you specify the ranges, the author had the foresight to include roots and powers instead of just the usual addition subtraction, multiplication and division.

Until I bought this app, I had been using "math drills" which has a 12x12 limit. It also has a tiny friggin keypad with the submit button right next to the zero. This app has a giant "submit" button above the ample keypad to avoid errors by typo.

There are some counterintuitive UI issues that i'd like to see fixed. The problem type check boxes are in the settings. They should be big buttons on the front page that you depress to select.

In the options menu, all you see is "addition, subtraction.. " with check boxes... When you see check boxes next to text, you don't expect to be able to tap into the text for more settings. (This is undoubtedly what caused that misinformed 1 star rating.) If you move the check box functionality to the front page as mentioned above, this problem goes away.

When you drill into a setting, it's not really clear how to go back... And when tapping a field to enter a range, the current value should be selected such that typing replaces the existing value instead of making me hit the backspace. Finally, the keypad is laid out like a telephone (123 on top) instead of a calculator (123 on bottom). After flying theough drills calculator style, working with a phone keypad takes some getting used to...

These are all minor issues. When it comes to the actual drills, (which is where you'll spend most of your time) the interface is clean and intuitive.

A fun little app

Not sure if you could call anything related this mastery because the problems are extremely simple, but fun nonetheless.

Impressed by the two kids.

Very impressed!

I also saw these kids on the TV special "Planet of the Apps," and I just had to buy it & support them. They deserve it. They've done an excellent job & I'm very impressed! The app does exactly what it says it does, and it's targeted to the right skill level: basic math. The only improvement I'd like to see is no duplicate problems per quiz. Other than that, it's flawless!
