Great idea...
...but a bit lacking. I'm not a big fan of in app purchases for apps like this. Just charge me what you need to and I'll buy it or not. In this case, it's a pretty expensive app, with a relatively small number of recipes, so it's frustrating to get nickeled and dimed to death after you've bought it. Others may feel differently.
On the recipes themselves, I do like the video content, but their descriptions are written for professionals, using terms without explanation that everyday people may not know. For example, One recipe just says 'french the lamb shanks' and cut some vegetables 'into paysanne'. Well that's great, but what does that mean?
I found out by Googling it, but that rather defeats the purpose of an app that is supposed to teach you how to cook these dishes. Each term could easily have been explained in a single sentence. The irony is that anyone who knows all these professional chef's terms doesn't need videos to show them how to make a dish. Write for your audience.
All that said, there are some excellent recipes in the app, and it is helpful to watch the videos. I don't regret buying the app, but I'm not ecstatic either.
Good idea, where are the recipes?
So this app, and the photo cookbook and photo baking app have something in common: cool idea, not many recipes. These apps aren't all that expensive, but at the same time the content is very limited for the price. And the Australian app pack looks gross. Add Italian, Hispanic. and Asian dishes and it will be worth it. These recipes are kind o f similar and of the same variety. I was also surprised at how limited the desert section was.
Awesome!
Really good app
