Background

The stage of this game is the world called "Eustrath". Even though it has advanced technologies it differs from Earth by the existence of Elementals. Like magic in a typical fantasy world, the power of Elementals is accepted and utilized in everyday life. One of them are fighting machines called "Elemental GEARs". And there are also fighting machines called "Mechanical GEARs" whose power comes from the pure mechanical energy not elemental energy. These GEARs (both Elemental and Mechanical) are natural element of Eustrath. People accept them as part of their life and mainly utilize them for warfares.

Throughout the history of "Eustrath", there were three great wars recorded. This game is an attempt to revive one of those wars. The heroine of the game is a country girl "Tiana". You can control her and her companions to build the history of Eustrath.

Fun gameplay, minor flaws

The game is fun overall for anyone who likes tactics ogre type games where you maneuver and level up troops.

Minor flaws are a lack of a good tutorial (some things like stats aren't explained so you never truly see the impact of "upgrading" certain attributes. My main faults are the lack of free play-wandering across the main map type battles as instead there are only "missions". This makes it harder to level up as the units you fight are usually 2-3 lvls or more above you. I guess that's where the strategy comes in. This game will make you want to punch your iPad a couple of times with how difficult some missions are. You'll end up redoing some levels a great deal and there's no ability to change the difficulty.

Also, mission bosses are borderline-too-difficult at times and easily KO half my units in one hit.

It also lacks any major semblances of customization and the attack animations can get old as practically everyone uses similar ones.

I gave it a 4 cause it's definitely worth it till FFT:WotL comes out considering the small amount of games of this genre for the iPad and its overall addictive gameplay, but it's hampered by some difficult bosses and can seem stale after a bit.

Great story

This game is very similar to super robots war series. If you like the SRW series, this is gonna be awesome. I'm not a SRW fan, even though I give it 5 stars, because of its great story and engaging conversations. Most Japanese-made games I have played (for about 15 years) have very bored story and conversation, especially as a non-japanese foreigner. Normal people outside japan just don't talk and act like what characters do in J-games. But this game is different, characters are more like normal human beings, not some stereotype guys. It has those classic personalities, but it's just better and right. For this reason alone I give it 5 stars. Like to see more great stories from you guys. Good job.

Awesome

Totally better than what I was expecting. Gameplay is fun and addictive, story is engaging, dialogues are corny but hilarious. The only draw back is the graphics on the map, they can be vastly improved.
