Description
Things is a beautifully focused and amazingly intuitive task manager. Other todo applications either oversimplify or are too difficult to use. Things instead offers the perfect balance between ease of use and powerful features.
"Things is a true standout thanks to a great set of features and an interface that makes it a good fit for nearly any level of task management: It's simple enough to use for the most-basic to-do lists ... but it's powerful enough to handle a full blown GTD workflow... Things offers a unique combination of ease of use, a great interface, and flexibility that sets it apart from other to-do mangers I've used." – Dan Frakes, Macworld, ★★★★½

• Focus on what's important: Smart task lists let you conveniently track today's work, what's next, upcoming tasks, and your ideas for the future.
• Have it your way: Use Tags to assign contexts, priorities, time – whatever fits your personal workflow. Quickly find exactly those tasks that have the most benefit now.
• Keep organized: Projects and Areas of Responsibility let you master complex tasks and stay on top of your responsibilities in life and work.
• Out of your head – into Things: Enter new ideas the moment they hit you. Things' Quick Entry window lets you add new tasks without interrupting your work. And thanks to the amazing Autofill feature, the Quick Entry window can be automatically pre-filled with the currently selected text, along with a link to the email you are reading, the webpage you are currently viewing, or the document you are editing. (Works with most applications.)
• Your tasks on the go: You can sync your to-dos wirelessly with the iPhone and iPad versions of Things using Wi-Fi (sold separately).
• And much, much more: Create repeating tasks, add due dates, schedule tasks for a later date, sync with iCal, review completed tasks in the Logbook, create lists for your teammates,...

Customer Reviews
Developers are letting the user base down big time.
I really want to like Things. I have shelled out money for the Mac, iPhone and iPad versions. I mean I have wanted to drink the Kool-Aid. But the longer the developers drag on before implementing cloud syncing, the more foolish I feel for having given them so much of my money and trusted their promises that syncing was on the horizon. Each of these apps in and of itself is well thought out, beautiful and user friendly. Each of them does a good standalone job but ... Things will never fulfill its promise until automatic cloud syncing is working. If you want to pick ONE of these three platforms and purchase the app specific to it, then this is a good solution for what it proposes to do. Each application is overpriced compared to comparable apps and software of equal complexity in other markets, but they do a good job of what they are intended for. But the whole point of a tool like this is to have it available whenever and wherever you are working. The current syncing solution of having the apps on the same WiFi network and initiating a manual sync is laughable and untenable. Does it work? Well, yeah, most of the time. But its kludgy and impractical for serious users who are constantly updating and referring to their data. If you want to effectively use Things you need to plan on only using it on one device. Meanwhile the developers speak of the inadequacy of the current iCloud infrastructure for their syncing solution. Huh? It's a database! Not a very complicated on at that as modern databases go. If they want their own web based solution fine, but get it up and going Cultured Code!!! This is ridiculous and insulting to the intelligence of their users. Check out Wunderlist for a good syncing solution. Things blows Wunderlist away in beauty and functionality, but that isn't enough. Cultured Code needs to do the right thing by the users whom they have led to believe that syncing is coming. Either get it out or start allowing refunds to unhappy users.
If you want the Mac only app, great. I would give it 4 stars as a stand-alone app, but a stand-alone personal productivity app in this day and age is a dinosaur.
Succumbed to the sync issues
I want to love Things and in some way I already do. I have purchased Omnifocus (ipad, iphone, Mac), Toodledo (pro account), To Do and countless others. I loved the functionality of Omnifocus but didn't like the user interface as much and found it to be overly complicated. I like the simplicity, ease of use and beauty of Things and had purchased it having read lots of reviews thinking I could work with the sync issues for awhile. Well it turns out, I can't and will be returning to Omnifocus until Things can get some sort of background or cloud syncing. Some things you should know about syncing:
Unlike Omnifocus you can't sync between and ipad and iphone without your Mac. This means what I type on my iPad will not be available on my iphone until I sync the Ipad with the Mac and the Mac w/ the iPhone...wow, that's bad
If you try to use your Mac and iMac (I use a Mac at home and my imac at work) with both your iphone and ipad, you are just inviting an headache as you will have syncing issues and will find yourself constantly resetting your router at home to work out some kinks with the ability for Things to locate your iphone or ipad as you swith between your desktop and laptop
Also, I think it's really disappointing for Apple to make Things one of the 2011 apps of the year...customer reviews must clearly not factor into this, as an improved syncing method should have been improved several releases ago and is so fundamental that even the less expensive, lower quality apps have figured out a way to do this successfully. Shamefule
Save yourself $30
Instead of spending $40 on Things for Mac, just buy the iPhone version instead for $10. Since the two apps don't sync in the background, it's easier just to pick one and use it, and the iPhone version is cheaper plus it's always with you.
