Description

Transform your iPhone, iPad or iPod to remotely control your computer through WiFi. Extended keyboard, Multi-Touch Trackpad and Apple Remote.

Tired of having a keyboard and mouse laying around in your living room? Get rid of that lousy setup with TouchPad! Use your iOS device to remotely control your computer through WiFi. With TouchPad's intuitive use, you'll feel right at home if you have already used a track pad on a MacBook. It's almost like having a micro laptop in your hands!

Moreover, if you have a Mac or use Linux, no additional software is required on your computer. TouchPad connects through Screen Sharing, which is part of OS X and most Linux distributions. Windows users can download a free VNC server such as TightVNC which is highly recommend.

You can also set a darker theme for when you use TouchPad in a low light environment.

TouchPad is the ideal companion for your Home Theather!

FEATURES:
• Super-easy setup,
• Configurable Multi-touch gestures,
• Media controller for all major software (Front Row, QuickTime, VLC, WMP, Boxee, etc.),
• Drag files, windows, text, etc.,
• Use the iPhone 4S keyboard Siri button to dictate sentences and send them to your computer.
• Use your Bluetooth keyboard to type. Event special keys like ATL, CTRL and arrows are supported.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Supports OS X 10.4 or later,
• Supports Windows XP, Vista and 7 (Free VNC server software like TightVNC required)
• Supports all major Linux distributions (Remote Desktop enabled)
• Requires a WiFi connection.

* NOTE: TouchPad is an alternative to a wireless keyboard/mouse/trackpad/remote combo. You will not see your computer's screen on your iPhone or iPad.

Great app

Used this to run my Mac while laying on the couch to watch the Crossfit Regionals. Was awesome. Easy to set up and worked flawlessly. I plan to test on my office computer next week. Really liked this app.

AWESOME

The iPad is a great trackpad. Really a joy to use this app. Works great with the Lion 3-finger gestures.

Works like a charm!

I had been waffling about buying this app because of the polarizing overall reviews, and because I wasn't sure whether I really had a use for it. I finally decided to bite the bullet when the batteries on my Magic Mouse died (and I didn't have any replacement batteries in the house).

This app worked perfectly on the first try: connected to my Mac (that already had screen sharing activated), entered my username and password for my Mac, and it connected and worked instantly. The keyboard, various keys, and media remote emulation is also top-notch: you can control iTunes, or any number of other apps that usually respond to the infrared Apple remote. I haven't seen much lag, either, as I sometimes do with a normal VNC client, and that might be because you don't see any of the remote Mac's screen on your iPad: it just works like a regular trackpad.

A few minor problems:

1) the media remote emulation defaulted to Front Row, and when pressing the playpause button, it would restart songs in iTunes from the beginning, rather than pausing and unpausing playback. When switching the emulation to "iTunes" specifically, everything worked fine.
2) you can't combine modifier keys from an actual keyboard with clicks from TouchPad; that is: if you hold down the command key on your Apple Bluetooth keyboard, and attempt to click using TouchPad, only a regular click will be sent, not a Command-click. In order to do this, you have to use the emulated modifier keys in TouchPad when doing an emulated click.
3) inertial scrolling does not work nearly as well as it does on a real Magic Mouse or Trackpad; I think it's just emulating it, and it's not very good
4) selecting text requires you to double-tap-and-drag on TouchPad, rather than just tap-and-drag as you would expect.
5) it doesn't seem you can double-tap-and-drag or triple-tap-and-drag to select text word by word or paragraph by paragraph like you can with a regular mouse

Despite these problems, this app is very versatile and well thought-out. Verdict: worth every penny.
