Customer Reviews
Tracks a lot of stuff, but makes you type everything in, and still has significant bugs...
For $30, I should be able to give it an airline and flight confirmation code, and it should be able to fill in all of the details regarding the flight numbers, date & time, the type of aircraft, the seat number, and all the other relevant details. Even without the flight confirmation code, with just the airline and the flight number, it should at least be able to pull up all the standard details about how those flights are normally operated -- the usual departure & arrival airports, the usual departure & arrival times, the type of aircraft typically used, etc.... All of that information is included in the airline databases.
And with a competing program called Pocket Express ($free), you can at least look up information interactively about regular flights, etc....
There's some bugs in the code, too. For example, in the car rental I've got right now, it doesn't remember what class of car I've got reserved. I can set the class of car, it shows up as being saved, but when I exit the program and come back in, it's gone again.
I also don't care for the way they do references to external web pages (e.g., SeatGuru, flight status checking, etc...). Not well integrated.
I've also found that the program crashes frequently when trying to do flight status checking.
Favorite application
A user of TravelTracker on Palm OS for many years; I found it to be my favorite and most productive application.
However, I had initial entry crashes with this version but Silverware support was very responsive.
After an iPhone 'reboot', the application now seems stable. I also understand an update will be out soon to correct these initial glitches.
Excellent
I continue to be baffled by so many reviewers complaining that apps cost money. For those of you doing that, I doubt you work for free. Until you do, shut up and quit providing stupid reviewers. Same goes for those who admittedly have not downloaded the app but think they can write a review.
This app does exactly what I need. It stores all of my travel info and expenses in one place and is easy to use. Some reviewers say they do this in iCal. I used to do the same thing. But the problem is that adding these entries makes me "unavailable" for the day and prevents coworkers to invite me to events.
I get occasional crashes but they are resolved by restarting the iPhone - much like a lot of other apps out there. I reported some of these problems to the developer and know he is working hard to fix them. Now that's a crazy concept. Work with the developer to improve software instead of bashing it in reviews. Who would of thunk it?
