Description
Tripometer turns your iPhone into a versatile mileage logger. Use Tripometer to keep track of your travel to make your month-end expense report a total breeze. Or use Tripometer to track your mileage for income tax purposes.
Tripometer allows you to organize your mileage tracking into user-configurable categories. Its simple, clean interface allows a number of details to be tracked per trip, including the date, origin and destination, purpose, start and end odometer readings, and distance traveled.
The flexible report creator allows reports to be created and emailed directly to you or your accountant. The reports are in comma-separated format for easy import into your favorite spreadsheet (such as Excel or Numbers).
Favorite destinations can be saved for quick data entry. Origins and destinations can also be selected from the iPhone address book. Trips can be duplicated using the button at the bottom of the edit trip screen. Odometer readings and distances are entered using a keypad to allow for easier data entry than with imitation odometer dials.

* Reports are now sent from your iPhone instead of from our server, which means your address is in the "To:" line (this should stop antispam software from blocking reports getting through)
* Reports include the total distance
* Number of unfinished trips is shown using a badge on the home screen icon (can be disabled in the settings)
* A bigger, multiline box is used to enter notes. The notes field in the trip view is sized to fit the length of the note.
* When deleting a category, all trips it contains are deleted (after asking for confirmation)
* End odometer value is updated when distance is set
* When entering distance and odometer readings, invalid characters from the keyboard are ignored
* Default subject for reports is now "Tripometer Vehicle Travel Report"
* When Tripometer is closed and reopened, the list views remember their scroll positions
* Fixed issues with scrolling and toolbar
* Memory leak fixes (makes Tripometer less likely to crash after heavy use)

Replaces a paper log and does much better than that
I'm a freelance musician, so I need to keep track of travel for different gigs, both contracted and not. For years, I used a paper log, then I had a Palm Pilot log. This app is better than anything I used before. The email function with full mileage calculation (chosen by dates) is my favorite feature, as I can tally mileage, even by category, at the end of the season and keep an electronic copy for my taxes.
I do send myself a tally every month just so that, should I lose my iPhone, I have a recent record of mileage.
I don't use every feature, but it's good to know that they're there in case I need to make a more detailed record.
Review
I am confused why favorites cannot be entered into the app w/ drop down menu so places that are frequently visited do not need to be keyed in again and again and again. Not very useful in my opinion.
Tripometer collects just the right amount of information
I downloaded several mileage applications, and most of them required too much setup or were too confusing to use. Tripometer collects only the stuff I need to satisfy the IRS and then allows me to send the info as a spreadsheet via email. I would have given it 5 stars if it kept the most common destinations selectable.
