Creative, promising, but...
Often crash-prone. Some effects appear to be limited to 24 seconds? Record with effect as long as you like, and preview will render the effect, but the recording drops the effect after 24 seconds.
Don't get me wrong, the application is KEEN in the number of useful video effects involved. Just not quite as polished as I might have hoped. Heck, in truth, I'm just looking for a consumer-level replacement for Apple's Motion. This is as close as it gets, I guess.
Just found Random Effects! Videator pwns
This is the coolest app since canned bread! It uses your built in camera to turn your computer into a funhouse of special effects. Try "Effects -> Add Random Effects" or "Tasks -> Rotate -> Kaleido Spin" - that is breathtaking and interactive with whoever is in front of the camera.
Proved to be an excellent app during our VJ gig!
We connected two cameras streaming video through to Videator, which was then output to two large projectors. Not only did Videator handle this beautifully at very smooth frame rates, but we were are able to delight all of the guests with the bevvy of visual effects that are built right in. We also were able to create our own "filter recipes", and that'll be fun to continue to develop during future uses. I highly recommended this app to anyone who wants to make cool and grooved out visuals for their parties and clubs.
