Description

*** Now fully redesigned with complete natural text-to-speech capabilities (Initially US & Canada only)***

When you download Waze, you not only get a free traffic & navigation app, but also become part of the local driving community in your area, joining forces with other drivers nearby to outsmart traffic, save time, and improve everyone's daily commute!

Features:

* Live community-contributed traffic information and road reports + notifications when approaching police traps, speed cams, heavy traffic or hazards on the road
* Free traffic by-passing navigation featuring voice-guided, turn-by-turn guidance
* A 100% live map + real-time road monitoring & automatic re-routing as conditions on the road change
* Hands free operation - Use voice commands to share road events or have Waze direct you to home or work. (Initially available for US & Canada only)
* Share your location or destination via text or email, or update others on new ETA when running late. Your friends can click on the link in the message and launch Waze directly to that destination.
* Ability to create or join local driving groups, plus the option to link up with other drivers for carpooling
* Foursquare, Twitter & Facebook integrations, plus fun, geo-gaming elements

How does it work?

After typing in your destination address, just drive with the app open on your phone to passively contribute traffic and other road data. You can also take a more active role by sharing road reports on accidents, police traps, or any other hazards along the way, helping to give other users in the area a 'heads-up' about what's to come.

That's about it - Waze is all about contributing to the common good out there on the road, so do your part and get involved in your local driving community today!

Note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life

Customer Reviews

Good navigation, amazing traffic features.

For being free, this is actually a great navigation application, and it does have a decent routing system. UI and design are beautiful! The navigation seems to lack some very basic exit information, like stating you're taking an actual exit off a major interstate, instead of just saying "stay to right". The community aspect of getting traffic information works amazingly well, and it's truly what outshines every other gps app, even dedicated gps devices. If they can fix the missing exit issues then this gps app could possibly replace my dedicated device in a heartbeat.

Not ready for prime time

I have tried several gps programs for iPhone and feel that this one is not quite there yet. The look and feel is as substantial as a stand alone gps, which was intriguing to me. The problem that I have is with accuracy. While driving from Nashville, TN to Tulsa, OK there was a large traffic snag because the road reduced to one lane. Waze tried to fed me an alternate route (good) to avionics this. What resulted was that Waze directed me to leave I-40, but lost its train of thought somewhere in the re-route process (bad) and directed me back on to I-40 going the opposite direction, then reversed it again sending me back in the original direction.

One other issue on the same trip was being directed to a restaurant in Little Rock, AR. We were attempting to get to our destination, but were directed to the middle of a Target Store parking lot 2.7 miles away. Not great because it was pouring rain at night. Pretty frustrating.

When Waze works, it works well, but not sure I want to gamble on when that will be.

Love the social aspect of this program, very easy to input info. Would like to see speed signs in the heads up displays. My Garmin does this and is quite handy when the highway signs are not posted as regularly as one would like.

Keep working guys. Will reverse my review when these issues are fixed.
