WeatherAlert is a simple weather notification application that will display alerts for your area such as Thunderstorms, Tornadoes, Floods, etc.
WeatherAlert has been updated to provided more accurate alert information. We are aggregating information from multiple sources and displaying the most recent and accurate information available.
** PLEASE NOTE **
If your device is "jailbroken" or not officially activated via AT&T (if using an iPhone), the push notifications may not work. Users of such devices should purchase at your own risk. There's nothing we can do about the device not registering for notifications properly.

THE VERSION 1.5 UPDATE IS REQUIRED IF YOU'D LIKE TO CONTINUE GETTING PUSH NOTIFICATIONS. IN ADDITION TO UPGRADING YOU WILL NEED TO LAUNCH THE APP AT LEAST ONCE IN ORDER TO HAVE THE INFORMATION SAVED TO THE UPDATED DATABASE. THIS IS THE DATABASE THAT WILL BE USED FOR THE DIRECT NOAA ALERT PUSHES.

We are currently working with NOAA to get real-time alerts and pushing them out to users. With the current data source and server implementation it can take 30 minutes to get an alert pushed. We understand this is unacceptable and are working as quickly as possibly to get it taken care of.

* If you do NOT see an alert you have selected to check for and you get it in other weather apps, first step is to check the details of the alert and make sure it has not expired. If it is not expired and you still don't see it, check the map. If it shows all of the US and not your state, your zip code isn't in our database. If this happens, please contact us ASAP at weatheralert@figmentdevelopment.com so we can resolve it.
* If you do not get alerts or push isn't working for you, please contact the help email before leaving a negative review. In a few cases the user had incorrect information entered in the app. We'll do everything we can to make the app work for you.

NOTE TO USERS OUTSIDE THE US:
The app is only for sale in the US App Store for a reason...the app only works in the US. Please do not leave negative reviews because you bought an app not sold in your country. The app is a US only app, therefore it only works in the US.
SETTINGS NOTE:
If you experience issues with activating push, please uninstall the app and reinstall it. This issue will be corrected shortly.
ABOUT THE REVIEW FROM US:
This was posted in v0.5, for some reason iTunes keeps changing the date and version to the most recent. This review was left after a flurry of 1-star reviews by people claiming the app was a virus and only gave error messages. The errors were due to network problems, not the app. We apologize for that review constantly appearing at the top of the review list. If anyone has any actual issues or concerns with the app, please contact us, we try to be as helpful as possible in figuring out why you aren't getting alerts or pushes. We've helped a number of people solve their problems.

Price increase to $1.99 due to rising server costs. Optimization is under-way and if we can accomplish our goal of getting real-time alerts out ASAP this price may have to stick. The constant polling for alerts for users is taxing on the server resources.

Needs better info source
The app did not show a current thunderstorm watch that my area was under (nor did Wunderground, but the AccuWeather iPhone site did show it). I'm looking forward to the future push update, and it is on that promise that I give this three stars. It would be a four star app if it used NOAA or some authoritative source of info AND had push notification (I realize that push is not yet available to the developer).

Does work
I have to apologize to the developer of this application. Please disregard my previous post about this application not working. The problem was with my iPod. I had to restore it, and now I am able to open the application. Although I do not have any weather alerts at this time, it does seem to be a great application!
